PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

Hey everyone!

Hmmmm...... I still have my moments where I'm not sure I want to hear any of those discussions. "CRAZY lady with a camera and bag of costumes headed for Fantasyland....... RUN!!!!!"

i promise it wasn't in a bad way. :) she loves Katie's costumes!

We have had the BEST fun at 1900PF through the years, with one notabe exception. Katie and I were on our way to the Pirate and Princess Party in 08. We were both wearing Fairy Godmother costumes and all the stepsisters could muster wa "So, where you from? Want me to sign your book?" SERIOUSLY????????? :lmao:

what? that's sad. my sister had one bad experience at 1900 with boring Tremaines. thankfully, we have only had an experience with a bad Drizella one summer (MK meet & greet). Addie has found videos of that same girl on youtube and she just is ho-hum in all of those too. i haven't seen her lately, and that's a good thing.

Fortunately........ we had one of our BEST Disney evenings EVER on this trip at 1900PF. That one's still to come.

can't wait!

Well I continue to be amazed. She really is awesome. And tell Addie we said "Thanks for sharing". :goodvibes So next time we go back can we tell her Addie said hi?

please do. you can say "your Addie" because she calls her that ("my Addie") since we call her "our Drizella." it may take her a moment, but she should know. and i will make it a point to seek out your Fairy Godmother on our next trip--it's been a long time since we've gotten to see her. she's been there for awhile right? i know i've seen her. i should look at our old pictures and see if i can find her.

my replies in red. :)

Thanks! I really do hope you can get settled soon.

Have you done any sewing before?

Whether you have or have not, if you think you want to sew some Disney stuff, start watching the Disboutiquer thread here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2896055

There are people of all skill levels there, lot of help, and tons of inspiration. It might be fun to plot some things to try. You know..... while you're doing all this ..... waiting.

Yup! I took 4 years of Home Ec (NOW called "Family and Consumer Science":p) and I used to sew quite a bit. But it's been YEARS since I've really made anything. I need a machine, but I don't even know where to start with it all. I should go lurk over there and see what I can learn!

Hey there! We're planning a trip, but won't commit on when for a while. I'm leaning more toward December. I was considering November but want to be sure the Fantasyland Expansion will be open (including Be Our Guest). I would be so sad if it got delayed and we just missed it.

But I won't commit until the fall deals come out. So are you planning a November trip?

Can't wait to see when you end up going! :goodvibes June is looking less and less likely :( but that just means we could do Christmas time again. :bitelip:

Fabulous MK day! I was really enjoying all the park pictures and character greetings. I was just thinking to myself, "What great characters, they are all so pretty and a good match for the characters." Then I got to Cinderella and had to do a double take. It's not that she unattractive but she just not a good Cindy.

You really should post the scrapbook pages for the updates you've done so far. They are so pretty.

Thanks Vanessa! :goodvibes It really was a grand morning.

Since I won't have time for an update for at least a few more days, I'll try to post a few of my scrapbook pages. I'm actually further in the trip with my scrapbooking than I am with my trip report.

my replies in red. :)

I'll make a note in my trip book for our next trip..... "Say hi to Addie's Drizella." Got it!

Then I'm sure you can come up with some stuff to make for your next trip. And Gretchen does great appliques if you don't have the machine for that..... :goodvibes

I'm sorry it looks like June is falling through. But Christmas would be even better! Everyone else around here seems to be going in November. Didn't they get the memo that all the cool kids are going in December????? :cool1:

Yeah, if I can get a machine I could hip up some simple things for the girls. I found an etsy shop with some "inspired" dresses that had a simple pattern- I could do that easy. I am VERY tempted to tell Corey my birthday present will be a machine. ;) I may find a sewing class, just to get my skills sharpened up and then get a machine though.

Dis has been just awful lately.
I'll give you a tip...clear all cookies and you should be able to stay logged in for the most part...except if you use chrome....Chrome is not working for many...including me. Also the email notifications have stopped for many or are sporadic. After I cleared Cookies, I went into my subscribed threads spot and just started reading each and every one and then my emails returned. I don't know if that is coincidence, or if it triggered them to come back.
I think I lost a lot of my readers because of that. I have posted a couple of updates and only a couple of people have answered, so my guess is they haven't gotten notifications and with it being on the Universal board, it's not something they would see on the regular TR board regularly.

I think when we got our ears done at DTD it was like $9...pricey I thought too, so if it's less at Sire Mickey's I can live with it. I showed Claire the picture of those ears and she loves them. So it might be something we look into in Nov
.

Hey stranger! I'm woahfully behind on my own trip report and every one else's too - uggh! I saw you posting in the November 2012 code thread - are you planning another trip? I've still got a pipe dream for one :rolleyes1

He stranger!!!!! We are going in Nov this year too! I hope you can go! All the "cool" people are going...just do it! :lmao:

Definitely get a machine for your birthday and jump in trying some stuff. Tell your DH it will save money on clothes for the girls...... even though we all know that's not true! :rotfl:

The patterns on youcanmakethis.com are a great place to start. Lots of stuff you see posted on the DISboutiquer thread use those patterns.

I didn't do a thing but am finally getting email notices again. I think it was just all part of the whole "server issue" thing......:rolleyes1

The problem of course is that I promised myself I wouldn't get behind on everyone's TR's again, then I stopped getting notices, and got behind. I'll catch up, but not in the next couple days. That much I KNOW!

So now that the November calendar is out do you know if you'll make it to a party? When is the first one? Did I see it's on the 9th? If so, yuck, since that's a Friday night.

Your scrapbook pages are beautiful! Although I loved getting my last trip done so quickly, I still prefer my "paper" Disney album from 2009! Do you print your pictures at home? I usually print at Costco and then manually crop the photos at home to the size I want. I have thought about using an online site that prints in all different sizes (2x3, 3x3, etc) but I never plan my pages out to know what size I want until I am working on it!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I do print all of my photos at home. I have a Epson Artisan 710 have been very happy with it. When it dies (and it will. I'm on about my 4th Epson printer) I think I might get the wider format printer so I can do full 12" photos if I want. I generally buy big lots of Epson 8 1/2X11 paper on Ebay and print several photos on each page. I also buy my ink on ebay to save a bit. I don't mind doing pages with 4x6 photos but never know just what I'm going to do until I sit down to do it. And I print custom sizes all the time.

Something else you an do is put several photos into a 4x6 space then cut them apart. I also like using the photo collage templates on the scrapbooksetc.com web site.

I love the idea of scrapbooking… but it rarely gets done. I LOVE Stampin' Up! products and have a tub full of stamps, punches and paper, but I prefer making cards when the mood strikes me to scrap! I feel like there is less pressure to complete a project. ::yes::

That's funny because I fell really intimidated by card-making! :lmao: I have all this paper and stuff around here and yet I still buy all my cards. I feel guilty about buying them, but I do!

I've actually been scrapbooking since the late 90's. It's saved me a fortune in therapy costs. :rolleyes1

Your scrapbook pages are gorgeous! Well done. :thumbsup2 Do you have a Cricut machine?

I used to paper scrapbook, but have switch primarily to digital. It's much easier, quicker and less messy. LOL I still have all my paper scrapping stuff, but really haven't used it in months. I still need to finish my 2008 Disneyland book I had started.

You can see some of my digital layouts here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos/showgallery.php?ppuser=747&username=yzerbear19

Wow. Just WOW. I am completely blown away. Your pages are amazing. I'd probably consider digital if I knew how to do that! So just how hard is it to learn how to do that? Your photos are awesome too. I hope you don't mind if I bookmark your spot for inspiration in paper form. Thanks for sharing the link!

And yes, I have a Cricut, but don't use it for much more than cutting titles these days. I've lost patience for cutting tiny pieces and glueing them together. I got "Make The Cut" just as thy were ending support for Cricut, so was very happy to get it. I love that I can cut almost any font.

A couple more pages for this morning..... I promise I'll have an update mid-week. I'm still over-committed on my time for the next few days...... And today my oldest turns 19. Not that it will require much of my time. He'll probably celebrate by sleeping most of the day. We already celebrated with dinner out Friday night at his favorite restaurant, Hibachi on the Plaza here in KC. Sort of made me flash back to our Teppan Edo meal at Epcot!

I'm not cool......:worried:

Wait!! Does this mean I'm cool again!?::yes::

Did I see it's on the 9th? If so, yuck, since that's a Friday night.

My only chance at a party and this is what I see! NOT HELPING!:scared1:

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

BTW, Janet I love your scrapbook pages! I wish I was creative enough do do that. I have tried, but I never can figure how I want it to look. I've done some back when Sammy was little, and that book turned in to just me taping all her clippings in it!:(

Well, relax. I have ONLY been to parties that were crazy busy or sold out. So (Well, except that one in 2010 when it was like 20 degrees! :lmao:) I'll walk you through it. And I'm hoping that having the new stuff open in Fantasyland will spread people out more........unless they use it as an excuse to sell more tickets..... but Disney would never do that.......would they? :rotfl:

So if the 9th is your only choice, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Just get your spot for the parade early. It's worth it to see those marching toy soldiers.

Thanks for the nice comments on the scrapbook pages. :goodvibes I actually copy a lot of pages I see that I like. I'm constantly ripping pages out of magzines and putting then in a pile of pages I want to copy. I also work almost exclusively from page sketches like those found here:

http://www.pagemaps.com/mar12maps.htm

I've been at this a while though. My earliest pages were a bunch of cards glued in a book with small photos next to them. I've actually gone back and started to redo some of those early books. There's no "right" way to do it. You have to enjoy the process AND the outcome or it's not worth it. Right now I'm relishing the thought of a day or two later in the week to just lose myself in the scrapping.

The biggest thing for me is that I am completely neurotic about time passing and memories fading. When I scrap, I enjoy the process, but mostly I feel like I can gain one on Father Time, and sort of freeze some of those memories before they get away.

This might come as a surprise (NOT!) but I journal a LOT on my pages. You can't see it on the pages I have posted, but I usually hide lots of journaling behind the photos. The entire journal (22 single spaced pages I think.....) will be in the scrapbook, broken up and hiden behind photos like this:

More tickets! NOOOOooooo! Well, John and I have decided to take it as we can, and make a few things a must and next year we'll do 2 parties and get it all taken in. For sure we want to do Meet & Greets with Mickey & Minnie, the Parade, and the Fireworks. Everything else will be bonus.
Do they have the dance parties like at MNSSHP?

I'm getting excited, just thinking of how to decorate my AoA window!:lmao:

I am a memory person too, and I take so many pictures to make sure I don't lose anything that the girls have done. I have so many Disks of pictures that I have to go by DVD books to store them all. John thinks I take too many, and maybe 10 photos of the same expression is a bit much, but:confused3

I have a set of photos of Kadence that I actually did a scrap page for (actually a Hallmark computer program page). She was 2, hiding behind the curtains, and 6 photos later, I have the whole event from her behind the curtains, feet visible only, to her peeking out, to her fingers only showing, to her finally walking out. It brings a tear to the eye, when I know she growing up.

Your journaling is so cute the way it's there, but hidden! See, I would have never thought of that!

Yes, they have the dance parties. We've didn't do them the last couple years since Ariel's grotto closed. It would be AWESOME if they'd bring back the Tremaine family dance party when FL reopens. We had a ball with that one.

I think your approach is perfect. Go for the atmosphere, throw in a couple other things and I think you'll be good. Next year cover any missed ground. I'm still waiting for Mickey and Minnie to have a wardrobe change. We were there THREE times in December and didn't even bother seeing Mickey and Minnie. I was boycotting their ugly Christmas wear.:rotfl:

I'm getting excited, just thinking of how to decorate my AoA window!:lmao:

I have a secret hope that they'll have free dining in December and include AoA. I think I'd try that, but I know the odds aren't great. So we'll probably end up at Pop. Can't wait to see what you do with your window so we can copy it. Errr.... be "inspired" by it........

Thanks Carey! Your page sounds adorable. I have found that scrapping really changes the way I shoot photos. I always have a page in mind I want to do.

Here's Mickey and Minnie from 2010, the same holiday wear from 2011:

Yes, they have the dance parties.

Good! That was Kadence's favorite part of MNSSHP and I'm sure we;ll spend time at the MVMCP ones as well. After all, it's all about the kiddos......:rolleyes1

I'm glad you think so, I do just want to soak in all in. We've seen on youtube the snow falling, and Kadence thought that was amazing.
Maybe they were doing a Ugly Sweater Party?:lmao:

Well, FD is at AoA in Sept so my hope for NOV is there!

Speaking of Errr...copying........ On your last TR, you have posted a picture of your POP window, with the light up Mickey head....I found that Mickey head on clearance at Walgreens in January, and picked it up! So that will be the center piece of the window, along with some Mickey & Minnie Christmas gels I picked up at Aldis. :cool1:

But.... but.... if you're copying me....... and I'm copying YOU.......... :confused3

Back to the drawing board......... :teacher:

You really need to watch the parade on Main Street under the garlands, with the snow falling. It's pretty awesome.......
