12/9 CONTINUED: Castle Gazing
We made it across the parade route into Frontierland with just minutes to spare. Katie had heard about Tom Sawyer Island and wanted to go check it out. In all our trips to WDW, we had never been over there. We waited a bit for our raft, and actually got uncomfortably hot waiting. There. Quite a change from last year's weather! We made a quick walk around the island and realized why we had never been there before...... and headed back. We had fastpasses to use! One more trip through the wash & spin cycle...... I don't wan to bore everyone with the same shots, but I do have a few more.....

Next it was back up through Fantasyland to use the Peter Pan fastpasses. I don't think I got a single shot off on Peter Pan. I need to learn to use manual focus I guess. But for some reason I liked this shot of the buildings.....

We also still had fastpasses for Buzz and Space, and time was beginning to become an issue, so we headed over to Tomorrowland. The line at Buzz was short enough that we each took our own car. This time I was determined to put the camera down and focus on my game. HAH! From here on out, I'm sticking with my camera. My car kept spinning on its own, and I don't mean at the times in the ride when everyone's care is supposed to turn. It just wouldn't stay put once I would turn in a certain direction. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

When we came out of Buzz, we noticed a gorgeous view and I had to stop and take a picture of. It was getting dark and the full moon was in the sky over Space Mountain. I wish I had my tripod, but a high ISO shot would just have to do.

6:00 was coming up, and I wanted a good spot of the castle lighting. Drew had never seen the castle decked out in lights, and this would be a great first look.
A quick shot on the way over to Main Street. Is there anything better than your first view of the castle lit up at night?

It was already a few minutes after 6 and I was surprised at how many close spots were still available. I intended to stand for photos, so we took our spots up near the stage and stayed standing.
We got new phones the night before leaving, and we really didn't have a chance to even learn to use them before leaving. So Katie decided to se our spare time to do a little research...... I think it's nuts when I look around me at Disney and see people everywhere looking down at their phones. That will never be us, but it had been a long day, and I figured a few minutes wouldn't hurt.

And finally the star of the show appeared:

We looked to have a great spot...... until someone in front of us hoisted their kid up on their shoulders blocking the view of everyone behind them. Never fails. Still, the lighting was beautiful, even if there's a few extra big heads in my shots.
