Oh, I think that any male (or interested woman) can appreciate Carrie Fisher in that outfit even decades later. I don't think you had to be seeing the movie THEN.
But yeah, real appreciation for how great she looks is ruined by the cruddy time she had filming those movies, and how nasty Lucas got about her weight.
