You can walk any Disney race, you just have to keep a certain pace (usually around 15 mpm).Only if I win a trip. And they let me walk it!

I'm thinking about it. I'd like to do the 5k with my daughters.
To be honest, I'm most interested in getting my kids moving and running, and I'm thinking of run/walking the 5k with my girls DD7Isn't this a women's only race, or did I miss something?
It is a women's race, but not exclusively for women. There will be some men running. Most of them will be there to support their wives, daughters, etc. Disney will take money from anyone you know. Disney used to have a Minnie 15k that was geared towards women, but there were a few men in it as well.
Hmmm, knows it all on a very limited, narrow set of knowledge. Thanks Dave! Our roving reporter knows it all!![]()

Yup, if you set a treadmill to 4 mph, you are walking a 15 mpm pace. So it sounds like your walking pace is right on Mindy. Is that anywhere near 4 mph? I walk at around a 4-4.5 mph pace...in other words, I can walk a mile in about 13.3-15 minutes.
Thanks! Maybe I CAN do a 5K...if I can just get there!Yup, if you set a treadmill to 4 mph, you are walking a 15 mpm pace. So it sounds like your walking pace is right on Mindy.
Any other podcasters going to run the Princess half-marathon?

I was going to suggest the exact same plan. I think 3 months is a reasonable amount of time to be able to build up your endurace to walk a 5k. The more time you have to train though, the less likely a chance you would have of injuring yourself.I would suggest checking out the "couch to 5k running plan" on www.coolrunning.com - i used that last year to go from never running, to doing a 5k at WDW last may. For the 5k, it is a 15 mpm pace, but for the 1/2 marathon it is a 16 mpm pace.![]()
OK you seem to be a experienced runner, so how long to you think it would take someone to prepare for a 5k..... to hopefully run it?

BTW: I went from sitting on the couch myself, to walking 2 miles a day, to running the Disney marathon from Jan 06 --> Jan 07.
In addition to the coolrunning site, there is a podcast (Podcast for Running?) on iTunes that covers the couch to 5k program. And disneyrunning has a lot of useful tips, especially concerning Disney races.
I AM!!!! But in 2010 if they still have it!![]()
