Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2026 (Feb 26-Mar 2, 2026)

Shooooooot. Well now I have some thinking to do. Solo trip (a first for me!) No park days (unless it makes sense for me to get an AP once we factor in MW??? Ooooh I'll have to think about that one and price it out!) Trying to keep the cost down. ASMo would be $470 for Thursday and Friday nights. SSR would be 33 points, but I would have to borrow points to make that work. I have 50 Aug'26 points and/or 27 Dec'26 points currently. I just don't want to borrow too many times, and I don't want to go back and modify MW into a 3-leg split stay to free up points. AAAARG!

Going by myself is gonna be super weird.

I do it all the time and it’s actually great! I decide my schedule and can make changes if I need to.

I’m also considering no parks for this trip. I’m looking at booking at the Swan and between the Boardwalk area and Disney Springs. There’s enough there to keep me occupied. I have flight credits so that’ll help keep cost down, and if I change my mind on the parks, that would be a good Christmas gift.

It's weird, but GREAT. :D

Good (?) news is that if AP math works then it makes easier the decision for the rest of events/trips of the season :)

I have done Disney race weekends a fair number of times and only once or twice was anyone with me. I love being on my own--which, as you know, doesn't even have to be the case for a "solo" trip, because you have so many friends to meet up with. Honestly, it's the best of all (the small? whole new?) worlds.

The only thing that has ever struck me as "weird" in all my solo trips to WDW is going on teacups by myself--but I still did it!

Oh there will be no other Disney trips after February until 2028 probably. Which sounds horrible but we really do need to take a year off so DH doesn't get completely burnt out, and to let our DVC points catch back up to our calendar/use year. Plus DD will be in school and I will finally be able to get a *gasp* job during the school year.

Jobs are dumb, don't recommend.

The money is nice, though. :P

Can confirm 😝
Hence why I have avoided one for the last (checks calendar) 10ish years. (Really I could say 19 years, but there was a stretch in there where I waited tables on nights and weekends, and then another stretch where I was a substitute teacher before DD was born.) Plus, daycare costs are cuckoo for coco puffs.

Hi, I’m a newbie to this side of the boards, and have only done rundisney virtual races.
I have a few questions..

How realistic is it that I’m able to get into all the races? I know to be logged in and ready on 2 different devices within 15 minutes of registration opening, but are many people (who don’t have the club rundisney ) successful at getting in to all the races? Well, really just two…the 5k and challenge

Secondly, I’m not a fast runner by no means, but can manage a 10k (slowly) without slowing down to a walk (which honestly, my run ain’t much faster). I’ve downloaded the free part of Runna app to hopefully improve time and endurance. Am I an idiot to try and tackle the challenge? I’ve somehow convinced myself I can do it, but it’s a lot of $$$ to flush down the drain if I fail.

Lastly, is the Princess the hardest ones to book? I have it in my head I want to push myself because I’ll be turning the big 26 next year (actually 50, but I like lying to myself). If I can’t get into Princess, I guess I’ll try for the springtime races.

I went ahead and booked accommodations just in case I do get lucky and at least get one, but it will be canceled if I’m unsuccessful.

Thank you in advance :)

Hi Anniebean,

We have generally been successful in getting the races we wanted. Part of it is the strategy of multiple browsers open just at or before things go on sale and stalking the site here for generous folks who help out others.

I think the marathon weekend is the hardest but princess is next hardest.

I am likewise super slow but you got this! There a ton of slow folks on the course, you should not worry about being too slow!

One of the things that also worries me during a long one, like the 1/2, is bathroom breaks. I’ve heard the lines to the porta potties can be long. And I pee a lot.

There are A LOT of tricks to help you get registered. The biggest one is this list. People will have multiple browsers open on multiple devices (each browser - Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc. - is a separate queue). You can also get extras by going incognito or private in each browser. Once people have registered, they will offer up their extra queues that have short waits here.

Some notes on this:
- Queues should be shared by direct message, not via a link pasted in the forum. This keeps more than one person from trying to use the same link.

- To share a queue ID, click the "queue id" at the bottom of the page and copy that into a message. DON'T copy the link at the top of the page.

You'll never know how far you can go unless you try. If you don't try, you will 100% fail.

That inspiration aside, I would HIGHLY recommend using the Jeff Galloway training plan on the runDisney website. It has gotten many, many, many people to the finish line.

Like everything else in a big race, this is all about strategy. You will be able to use the restrooms in the parks when the route goes by them. Finding the biggest (or most hidden) bathrooms is a good thing. Also, the lines tend to move fast as everyone has the same clock in their head.

There are porta-potties along the highway miles, but if you can avoid stopping at the first group, the lines usually aren't terrible.

Others have posted good info. As the time for registration gets near, there will be a lot more chatter about the registration process. One of the many things to remember--you have to go through the payment for your registration to be official. Meaning, it's not guaranteed just cause it's in your cart.

As for whether you are an "idiot"--only you can decide. We will encourage you (based on our collective experience) that it is possible if you put in the effort, that people on this board have gone from "5k only" to "0 to Dopey", and that you will not be alone in your attempts.

Like you, I decided the year I turned 50 would be the year I took up running. I signed up for the Minnie 15k (a defunct woman-focused springtime race). Registering for it was one of the scariest things I ever did. But I went from not running to finishing it very respectably, and after that worked my way up to the other race weekends.

It's definitely doable. You have 8 months to work your way up to the half distance. Since you can already complete a 10k, maybe a good next step is to find a 10k plan that fits your current fitness/progress goal/time commitment and do that.
