How crazy is the expo? Should I bring my husband for security or leave him at our friends because he will think it's a mad house?

It will be crazy until at least lunch time, so yes and yes

They say Princess Expo is worse than the other race weekends since there's more catfighting over merch, but personally I think that's a sexist stereotype. Marathon Weekend Expo was just as bad this year.

As someone who was witness to the Princess expo where punches were thrown AND at this year's Dopey hoodie fiasco during early access, I can attest that there's not a lot of difference between the two when highly desirable merch is involved. That said, while the first morning is always a bit crazy, those extremes are the exceptions and not the rule.

I did my longest run on the schedule today instead of in two weeks, and I may start tapering now. I’ve been having tight Achilles issues and my left side was so cranky after my run I was limping around the grocery store. I also may go from 5 runs to 4 in the last weeks, depending on what my PT says tomorrow and how I’m feeling.

Word of caution on the radius limit: I have heard a lot of people complain in the last couple of years that they were within the actual mileage radius and could not join the VQ. It's not an exact ring around the area, so to the extent you can get a bit closer I would recommend it.

I am always on team day 2 for the expo if possible.

I have been in the past but I don't want to take a chance on ears (even though they don't seem to be selling out lately.) Plus this is my first 5K since I couldn't pass up Mulan lol. So day 1 is a must unfortunately.

You'll have to go to one of the resorts, the Epcot monorail doesn't start running until about a half hour before Epcot opens

Correct. Race is over too early for it to make sense to run buses to other parks. Sounds like it starts at 10:00 am.

45 miles from what exactly? If I assume it is from Wide World of Sports, I'm 40 miles according to google maps... am I probably fine?

agree my house says I’m just shy of the 45 miles however we have to drive cross town to actually join the queue

Hoping that we don't have any issues like what happen at the Marathon Weekend races. The rfid chip on many of bids did not work. Racers did not have a posted time for their races. If you go over to Marathon Weekend 2025 forum you can read the experiences that the runners had.

In all my years of rD races, that is the first time anything like that has happened. The likelihood of it happening again is extremely low, especially knowing they will be paying extra attention to this for the near future.

They seemed to have learned and had a timing mat to check bib chips at the Disneyland Half expo. Maybe this will become a thing?

I think they have a different company handling bibs out there, Trackshack is based in Orlando. That said, I’m not expecting a repeat of the MW issues.

It looked to me like Trackshack handled the bibs for DLR. At least, Trackshack Events is the page where I just looked at my results. Either way, I agree that it's doubtful there will be issues again.
