We arrive at DW on Sat. Feb 28th and our first park day will be Sun. March 1st, same day as the Princess Half Marathon. We are staying at Boardwalk. Should I avoid going to Magic Kingdom or Epcot on those days and instead do Hollywood Studios? I understand that Epcot opening will be delayed an hour, but how will the crowds be that day? I also understand there are road closures to Magic Kingdom in the morning, so will bus transportation be a nightmare that morning? How will crowds be the rest of the day if we waited to arrive at 10:30 or 11? I am just trying to figure out which days to do which parks on our week long trip, also fitting in two rest days. Thanks!

It is a bit awkward to get up to MK in the morning of the race. The busses will be re-routed if necessary, and that will add time to the commute, but they will get you there. Hitting rope drop is tricky. If you are going late morning, it should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I am leaning towards your idea of doing a late morning and sticking it out until the fireworks as opposed to trying to get there for rope drop and dealing with sitting in a bus for a while with two young kids.

I did hollywood studios (on the day of the 1/2) the year we stayed at riviera during princess marathon weekend.

2024 I wasn't thinking and foolishly decided to stay at POR and do epcot on 1/2 marathon day. Never going to make that decision again.

Was it the travel there or the crowds or both? How was HS on that Sunday?

The travel to Epcot was a nightmare in 2024 when we went by bus, I think the 1/2 went a little longer than planned and they still hadn't opened up the parking lots? I just remember waiting forever for a bus, and then the bus taking forever.

2023 Hollywood Studios was fine that Sunday, and we did end up park hopping to Epcot in the afternoon that Sunday.
