Planning a girls’ trip for Princess half 2021. Want a VGF 2 bedroom for 3 nights ( Friday through Sunday) I’m going to have to borrow points. I own at VGF. Have a June UY.

In my past experience, my group always has a high drop out rate when it’s time to actually start training . I’m afraid I’ll borrow the points and end up with two runners...

How late do you think I can hold off booking and still get the room?
Thank you Disers

Not very long after the 11 month mark. VGF is a small resort and that weekend is very popular. Your guests are going to have to have some skin in the game to keep from dropping out. Like charge them $100 for the lodging. Or something that will hurt if they drop out.

Best guess is past patterns - check out skier_pete's & Bing Showei's thread:

Have you considered separate bookings for a 1 bedroom and a studio? That way yu can cancel one if the dropouts are too many and then have MS reallocate points such that the remaining reservation uses the all the borrowed points, leaving the "extra" points as current and thus available to bank.

Keep in mind that the race weekends are very popular and tend to book more quickly than the surrounding nights.

I have historically just “donated” my DVC to the group but I see your point.
Maybe I should ask for $100 non-refundable deposit in March when I have to grab the room.

Thank you! I thought about two rooms but I think that combination gives us one less real bed. We are a group of over 40 women...I don’t think any of us could run the next day if we had to sleep on a sofa bed!

At first, I read this as you were going to try to squeeze more than 40 ladies into a 2-bedroom unit. :crowded:

Then, I realized you were referring to how many trips around the sun you have taken. :sunny:

Yeah, poor syntax
I read it after I posted it and thought hmmmm, that didn’t come out quite right!!

I’m not an expert in two bedrooms, but I wouldn’t wait. Princess is big DVV business. And since VGF is on the monorail line and you can take that to the Half, it’s a strong contender for race stays.

If you wind up with two, invite others, let the friends who didn’t sign up for Princess know they can still go, or just enjoy the heck out of that 2 bedroom.

If you’re donating it to the group anyway, the cost is the cost.

And by the way, they know that princess itself tends to fill up with registration, yes? And they can’t get a refund simply for not training? Just signing up for rundisney events imo means I’m going.

My cousin and I are, too, and she has done just fine with the sofa beds at VGF, Bay Lake, and Boardwalk. She says they are downright comfy, actually.

I am going to have to grab the room in March and race registration doesn’t open until June . I think I’m going to take Deb & Bill’s advice and ask for a $100 non-refundable deposit to yours truly. So folks can at least some sense of commitment :teacher:

You could use that $100 per person to pay for a nice dinner for the group after the race. But don't tell them that until after you all get there.
