That's according to MP's weekly update (link):

This and That...

"...We're hearing that the Princess Fantasy Faire closes on August 12 so work can begin on the
Fantasyland Theater. While the new Fantasy Faire is still under construction at the former
Carnation Plaza Gardens, the princess meet-and-greet area is relocating to the terraced
viewing area in front of "it's a small world." Disney used this area earlier this year for the
Chinese New Year festival, and often hosts Villains meet-and-greets there during
HalloweenTime. No word on plans for the Fantasyland Theater, only that the venue will be
used for some sort of stage show starting next year."

Thanks. I'm hoping the new Fantasy Faire is opened by the time we get there (1/27/2013). We'll see.

oh thank God it's not going away completely until the new area is built. We have been watching Disneyland Princess YouTube videos and DD would be heartbroken if there was no M&G area like that.

I wonder what this will mean for the Halloween parties when the Villains typically use that area. Will the Villains be somewhere else or will they not have one of the two groups out for meet-and-greet?

This is the same info I got from a CM at PFF about a month ago. He also said that Merida will be joining the princess in the new area as well as the temporary one at small world. He was not sure when Rapunzel was as she is proving still very popular, but the plans are eventually to have her join as well.

Complete speculation, but maybe they could put the villains in the Festival Arena area. I realize few of the villains have any link to the Old West, but it's not like they belong with the cheerful scenery of It's a Small World either.

(Although, some people DO consider that ride torture, so maybe...)

AHAHAHAHAHA! That made me laugh so hard.
