I was going to hold out and get a princess dress for DD from Disney Parks. However, I am seeing lots get their dresses from other websites like Little Dress Up Shop or Fancy Princess. My question -- will I regret it if we don't get the "real deal"? Or am I being a dress snob? My DD will be 3 so I don't think she will notice yet, will she? Will we feel second rate at BBB with one of these dresses? The price difference is great -- can get two for the price of one -- is there a quality reason? Any insight would be appreciated!

We got our dresses from littledressupshop. I think for a 3 year old they would be perfect. They are made of much more comfortable materials than the 'real deal', however my girls did comment on how their dresses didn't look just like the princesses they were dressed up as. Especially the Cinderella dress was a little disappointing to me (they sold out of the 'old' style right before our trip and I think the old style was more similar than the new one). I don't know that a 3 year old would really notice the different though and I'm sure being comfortable at that age is worth that they look slightly different.

I am too thrifty to pay the Disney prices for dresses. I am just fine sending my daughter around in a dress from Halloween (which means it probably came from Wal-mart or Target.) Yes, they are not "fancy" or the best made but she is a kid and I expect her to be messy and play in these outfits.

She was 4 last time and wore a Snow White dress. I honestly didn't think anyone noticed the quality. She loved it. This time she is taking her Cinderella dress from Halloween that lights up and her Elsa dress which is just the $20 one from Target. We are doing BBB and CRT with the Cinderella dress. (Elsa's dress is for when she meets Elsa.) I think she will be thrilled with both experiences and won't comment on what the other girls are wearing. (in regards to dress quality that is - she may point out another character dress that she would want to own.)

I've gotten used dresses in like new condition from local yard sale Facebook sites for about $15 each. You can try ebay too.

Thank you for all the replies. I am going to find our pictures with the princesses last year and compare their dresses with the "fake" ones and the Disney ones and see how close they are. She has the Disney Store Sofia dress she loves and wears all the time.

After extensive comparisons, I think the Aurora dress is not bad. The knock-off Rapunzel is not quite the same color scheme -- its a much lighter pink/purple (more pastel than jewel-toned). I think that might bug me.
