Well, I was just at our local Disney Store tonight and they were putting out a bunch of Disney Princess costumes for Halloween or dress up. They had Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Tinkerbell, Sleeping Beauty. They were waiting for Little Mermaid to come in. They were all priced at $34.95 which is up $5.00 from last year.

They all had matching accessories like wands, shoes, wigs, crowns, etc. that you could also purchase.

Just wanted everyone to know in case their little princess wanted to dress up for formal night on any upcoming cruises. They had infant, toddler and other sizes up to 10. Remember, every Disney Store will be getting their shipments differently, so what my store had might not be in your store yet. But they said that all stores were receiving the merchandise in the very near future.

Did you find that often, that the girls where Disney princess costumes on formal nights? I never even considered that option!

Thanx for the info....anxious to see the new designs! That place is one of my weakness...LOL! Have managed to stock up on a suitcase full of goodies and still have 5 mos to go! Got the grands theirs just last month when they had their half price sale. Thought our princess' would be cute in the gown, tiara and shoes for maybe cruise formal or some another activity.

Dressed all 4 of my kids up for formal night (and semi-formal night) on our last cruise (3 princessess and 1 Captain Hook) and I have to say it was fun! Didn't see many dressed up the first night but the second night (semi-formal) there were ALOT of little ones dressed up. I, too, shopped the 1/2 price sale and have our new princess dresses in the closet (my DS is a bit too old this time!) just waiting. We'll be Cinderella (DD3), Minnie Mouse (DD4), and Belle (DD6). They make great halloween costumes after and then dress up clothes! Worth the investment IMHO.

Random question here, has anyone noticed the difference in quality between the costumes at DS vs the costumes at World of Disney? Of course you pay dearly for the quality difference!

We bought my DD 3 a Cinderella costume last Jan. at WDW. There is a big difference in quality compared to the costumes at the DS, but there was a big difference in price. If I remember correctly, I paid around $50. Unfortunately my daughter fell in love with Cinderella while on the trip, and I didn't think I could find a halloween left-over that time of year. It is a beautiful costume that will definitely be passed down to her sister.

I buy a new costume for my daughter every year while we are at WDW (usually December)... fortunately she doesn't grow too much, so she can still wear the costumes bought 3 years ago!

When I asked if these were for Halloween I was told that were Halloween and also for play/dress-up and they would probably have them for awhile.

We have often seen children dressed as princesses on formal nights.

I actually make the princess costumes for Belle...I just bought the fabric to make Aurora for this year, and let me tell you, it's probably cheaper to buy the ones from the Disney store! Not to mention less masochistic. I'm still debating whether to bring them along for the cruise--she's small, so will likely still fit in Belle as well as Aurora. For me, the issue is less the packing space (although that's an issue), but travelling with a younger cousin who won't be similarly attired. I don't want to hurt her feelings!

Hi! I love the ideas of dressing up the little ones for dinner! I didn't even think of it. We're going in October on a 4 day. Do you think it would be appropriate to dress them like princesses for the dinner at Triton's?

Thanks!:D

Buzzn -

I made my daughter the Cinderella costume (hoop skirt and all!)... and the fabric alone probably cost me around $150! But the costume is beautiful! In my opinion, it beats a store bought costume hands down!

I hadn't thought about bringing the costume for the formal evening...

I already have the Cinderella costume pattern--i'm on the hook for it next year! Belle's a real planner, as you can see. Fortunately, she doesn't change her mind on things as important as costumes--I bought the Aurora and Cindy patterns in Nov. on sale for $.99, and I've been scoping for fabric sales and just bought Aurora's over Fourth of July. I've already been warned about that hoop skirt! But you're right, they look SOO beautiful--Belle was a real show-stopper last year, she just looked stunning, it was worth all my b****ing while making it. Also, DH bought me a new sewing machine for my birthday! Plus, they do use the costumes for dress-up, a lot--even ones a few years old, Belle's just a tiny kid who doesn't grow (she gained a whole 2 pounds over the past 2 years--she'll be in that Belle costume for her prom!). I also have Mulan and Melora (from the frog prince, a couple years old, but still used for dress-up). I wouldn't bring those on the cruise, though.

I saw the new costumes last night. They are much nicer than last years were, so the extra cost seemed justified. I loved the Jasmine costume, but it wouldn't be good for formal night. The Belle costume is just gorgeous! Did you see the red cape that goes with it?

They had two Belle costumes at our TDS. The "regular" yellow dress for $34.50 and the red fancier dress for $75.50. I thought the red dress was quite lovely and very different (neat design and nice detail work) but wow what a price!!

A few months back a TDS CM told me they would be getting 2 levels of costumes this year. I was really hoping I would see a selection of ones like those at WDW. However, it appears that only Belle made the cut this year - at least so far.

I know we will take a princess dress for our dd to wear on our next cruise. Last year she was really too little so she just wore Disney-themed clothing but next time it should be fun to bring along the princess trousseau :)

Happy cruising!!

akasleepingbeauty...
Just want to say ~ your cute little princess has really grown.
I remember your pix of her last yr. in that adorable pink dress :D

4nana,

How sweet of you to notice!! Yes, she turned 2 in April and is really turning into a big girl these days. The picture in my signature is from our March trip (boy did she have a GREAT time!) and she has grown even more since then.

Thanks for your kind words!!
