Princess Caitlin pre trip August '10 costarring dawnbu40

Sounds like a perfect day...oh to walk between Epcot and Boardwalk...that's my dream Disney vacation right there. :cloud9:

Congrats to Caitlin for getting a second day on set ! Sounds like we have a movie star in the making right here on the disboards :thumbsup2

Plans sound great :thumbsup2

I've heard the BW bakery is very yummy and saw some great pictures of there food , can't wait to here what you think .

I really like the walking idea , I've always thought about walking over to the Beach Club to do Beaches & Cream or walking over to the Epcot resorts to explore but have never done it .

Can't wait to hear about the food at Kouzzina and see some pictures ! My good friend in Middle school was Greek & I always enjoyed the Greek food her Mom & Dad would make :goodvibes

Caitlin says "thanks Angie"! She was always a natural performer so this is all right up her alley. In fact, I remember when she was 2 she insisted on staying up and watching the Academy Awards with me (weird kid right?) and she proclaimed "I'm gonna get one of them". :)

She enjoyed her second day on set where they filled church scenes with Pierce Brosnan as the minister. Caitlin found him "very hot" and is crushing on him now

We have taken the boats from the parks to BC but never tried the walk so it will be a fun new experience!

Kouzzina is Caitlin's pick. I admit to being a picky eater so I'm not sure if I'll find anything I like on the menu . Maybe I can get a kid's meal

Awe she's soo welcome ! You can tell you are one proud Momma and you should be Caitlin does soo many good things to make you proud !

I hope you are able to find something that you like on Kouzzina's menu Greek food is soo good ! I'm sure you could get something off the kids menu but when trying something new I always take the approach that there is always a meat on the menu that may not be chicken but it sure taste like chicken ! :lmao:

Can't wait to here more about your plans popcorn::popcorn::

Thanks Angie! :goodvibes

I thought of your family today when I heard the Power Rangers were leaving DHS. It's too bad they aren't holding out til after your trip so the kids could see them again.

Your Welcome :)

Awe , yeah I saw that too I wish they were staying too my boys really love them !

I just read of a rehab that has me totally bummed out! :sad1: I just heard that It's A Small World will be closed from August 1-late Oct! I cannot imagine going to the MK and NOT riding IASW :sad2: I know a lot of people find that ride annoying, my own family included, but it is the one ride I have been on EVERY single visit since I was 6 years old! It just won't seem the same.

So sorry to hear you won't be able to ride IASW...I too love that ride....and I make Jasmine ride it with me even though I get the eye roll everytime:lmao:

Thank you! I know that eye roll! In fact I got it yesterday when I told Caitlin how bummed I was that we can't ride it in August

haha! If I had known it was going to be down in September, I definitely would have ridden it in May. I goofed up. It's not my favorite ride, but it really is a classic and I omitted it my last two trips. Bad planning!

With MNSSHP starting 2 weeks later and no IASW I am kind of bummed but I'm hoping that staying at the Boardwalk makes up for it. Dale told me he'd ride Peter Pan twice with me to make up for no IASW though

I saw that post about IASW being closed for refurbishment too! That's definitely a bummer. I feel like no trip to Disney is complete without at least one ride on it.

Well - maybe riding the Mexico ride will help a bit - there's that one scene that is kind of like IASW. And you're so close to Epcot when you stay at BW!

Thanks I feel the same way. IASW is my MK "Constant" ( that will only make sense to Lost fans though :rotfl:)

I do enjoy the noat ride through Mexico though and maybe if we stop by the CR and I see the mural it will serve as my "fix" :)

Rumor has it that "Small World" may get the Disney characters a la Disneyland.
I think that would be a fun addition after seeing pics of the gang at Disneyland!

I hadn't heard that rumor. It would explain why it's such a long rehab (almost 3 months) I agree the DL version is cute and that would be a fun addition! :goodvibes

Hi and Happy Monday!

So last week's announcement by Disney that they will not be offering as many discounts to entice traveller's got me thinking. I know my family has been able to take more trips by taking advantage of the buy4get3, the free dining etc and the idea that these discounts may be fewer and far between is disappointing! So I thought I'd do a bargain post and share some of the ways we cut costs on our trip and ask you guys to share your own tips. So I'll start....

I participate in several internet programs that "pay" you in gift cards for using their search engines or clicking through emails they send daily.
The best program of that type is "My Points" and for our August trip I cashed out my "my points" for a 25$ Landry's gift card. That combined with a gift card I earned from my debit card will pay for dinner at Yak and Yeti :) This will save $ and dining credits :thumbsup2 I have a second My Points account (you're allowed 3 or 4 per household) and got 20$ in gc to Burger King. You're thinking kind of an odd choice? Well there is supposed to be a unique BK at Universal's City Walk so we will try that out on our UNI/IOA day.

I do a similar program through "Inbox Dollars" and after about 6months earned the 30$ necessary to "cash out". I got a check in the mail and used it to purchase a Disney Store gc for August. These take longer to accumulate but getting a check is nice ;)

I also do the Coke Rewards program. If you drink coke you may have noticed the code under the cap. You sign up at coke's website and enter codes as you get them. I am currently saving up and next month I will use them to purchase coupons for free 20oz coke and dasani coupons. (at that time I should be able to get at least 10 coupons) My plan is that we will stop at Target on our way from MCO to BW and pick up our "free" drinks to fill our fridge at BWV :) Since we are big coke and water drinkers this will be a nice little savings and convenient to have in our room since BW doesnt offer traditional counter service.

I am also really into couponing! I love seeing how much stuff I can get for free or seeing that grocery total drop drastically after the coupons are deducted. Now that our grocery store sells Disney gift cards I use the money I saved couponing and buy Disney gc to put away for our trip :)

I had previously told you about the House of Blues gift certificate on the Restaurant.com website which makes for a really inexpensive meal at a nice place that doesn't get much attention on the Dis.

Lastly, the easiest thing we do to stretch our Disney dollars is save all our coins. We have a basket where we all put our change at the end of each day. Each time the basket reaches 25$ I roll the change and deposit it in the bank acct. I then either order a Disney gc or make a payment on our trip. You would be suprised how fast that change adds up! The great thing is you really don't even miss the money!

Now none of these ideas are going to save you tons of money but IMO every little bit helps! So what are your tips for boosting your family's Disney budget?

We are also bummed about this , well maybe not DH but I know DD is soo gonna miss it this was her favorite ride last year it was all she talked about :( We just watched a YouTube video yesterday of it and had a blast singing along !

Wow, Dawn you certainly do a lot of great things to save money for your trips :thumbsup2

I have to say we really don't do much of anything cause we use our tax refund to take us every year . So we just pay for much as we can ahead and put the rest in our savings till the day of our vacation .
