Hi! Sorry I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this . . . my DH and I are coming to Disney in May and I have just noticed there are some Princess and Pirate parties being held while we are there. We have never been to any of the special events at Disney. Would these be any fun without children? We love Disney, we're not grumpy old adults (not quite!!), but don't want to be the only ones there without kids!!!

Thanks for any help you can give

I haven't been to the Pirate and Princess party yet...but my husband and I have no kids and are going to the party next week. I hoping its going to be fun! But you wouldn't be the only one going with no kids!

P&PP is a good time...it consists of special events such as Pirate and Princess parade, different version of Wishes fireworks.
When you enter the Magic Kingdom, you'll be given a loot bag and treasure map for your Pirate booty(chocolate and beads) which can be found throughout the park at 'X' marked locations which are on the treasure map.
You'll notice plenty of kids and also adults dressed up in either Pirate or Princess costumes!
For the kids they have events such as 'how to be a Pirate' and 'Princess in training'
And of course the park is open for extra magic hours which is at least midnight.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm sure I may have forgotten some other piece of info.
Hope you have a good time!

My DH and I are attending our first PPP on May 21st. We enjoyed the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Oct 2006 and when they extended PPP into May - it was a must do for my hubby. The MNSSHP was his favorite part of our last trip - special parade and fireworks shows during these events. We are looking forward to going and we have no kids. Go! Enjoy! No one will notice who you are with. Some folks wear costumes - other's don't - whatever your preference. :flower3:

I went with my mom and a friend of hers a couple of weeks ago. It was so much fun! The park takes on a whole different vibe when in party mode.

Von and I went a month ago and loved it. In addition to doing many of the attractions as fast as you want, do not miss the parade, the fireworks, and the Captain Jack Sparrow street show over by Pirates ride.

The kids and parents are dressed to the 9's and really cute.
I say Go For It!!

Ted

The hubby and I are going in 2 weeks! I've only been to WDW once, and he went a dozen times when he was a young kid. We're 29 and 30, and are big kids. My husband is so excited to wear an eye patch. :rotfl2:

Myself and DBF are at MP&PP on April 23rd - with no children!

We won't need them, we're like big kids anyway :rotfl2: Really looking forward to it, will be nice to do something special together and get to meet some of the more unusual characters, catch a different parade and see the special fireworks, which, from what I've gathered, are the best that Disney do! :thumbsup2

We have booked for 21st May. Older couple (er ah hem...delicate cough).
And no kids either!!

We have read lots about it and think the special fireworks and the chance to do extra rides will be great!
We caught a Mickey halloween event accidentally in Hong Kong Disney last October and the parade and themimg was awesome!
So we were definitely up for the extras that P&P offer

We will be dressing up in some token way. Not decided whether to wear piratey outfits (we will have been on a cruise week before). I am tempted to wear a normal but extra pretty summer dress and pretty sandals (flip flops in bag in case the feet don't make it) and a simple Tiara! I have heard of all ages doing same so I will not feel out of place...
Only at Disney...:wizard:

I have booked for May 16th - can't wait! I have bought DH a pirate bandana . . . just have to pluck up the courage to show it to him now!!!!

Oh he'll wear it! It's not like he's going to be on his own really, there'll be quite a few adults dressing up...even more than a bandana! :) I've bought myself a cute Piratey/Princessy t-shirt too...can't wait! :thumbsup2

totally worth it for just the 2 of you. the fireworks display is awesome and something like you've never seen! the rides are really just walk-on. NO wait, at least for us. there are a lot of kids activities going on but still, there are characters there that are rare to see. it is just a crazy good time. if we didn't have kids we would still totally be there!:thumbsup2

this might be a stupid question.. but do you have to have tickets to enter magic kingdom in addition to the tickets to the party? thanks!

No stupid questions...only stupid answers!! :rotfl: But to answer your question, no, all you need to enter is the party ticket. Party officially starts at 7pm, but in the past the party tickets will get you in as early as 4pm where you will be able to get your wristband and be good for the whole night!

We went in August and had a great time. We are in our late 30s and no kids. If you are planning to dress up buy your costume before you leave. We both dressed up and had a ball. I was worried there wouldn't be a lot of adults dressed up. When we were waiting for the bus another guest asked to take out picture. When we got on the bus everyone cheered and clapped. Of course the bus was full and we were the only ones dressed up. Once we got to the party there were other adults dressed up too. You'll have a great time!

We will be at the PPP on April 23rd as well!

It'll be me, my mother, my DD5 dressed to the 9's as Belleprincess:, and my DBrother-13 dressed as a pirate:

See ya there! Have Fun!!:dance3:

We went to PPP on April 6th. It rained the entire night but we still had a great time. The crowd was super small and gave the park an eerie feel but that only added to the special party vibe. The cast members were really into the making the night special. We walked on to all the big rides and did Buzz Lightyear 4 straight times!

I thought the fireworks were better than Wishes. Also an excellent parade with characters you don't usually see.

We ate at Cosmic Ray's at 11:00 p.m. and there was a good crowd of kids rocking to the deejays inside staying nice and dry. I dont know if they usually have the deejays outside or not.

Highly recommended for the "over 50" crowd, especailly if you have done the parks many times.

I can't wait! Only a month until I get to experience it!!

Does anyone know what restaurants are open while the party is on? Is the bakery?

After reading all the great things everybody had to say about the party, I'm thinking about heading there myself. My question is: does anybody know if you can buy tickets on the day of the party? The only time I can go is the night I arrive (ETA at MCO is 3:15 pm), and I'd hate to buy a ticket in advance and then be either too tired or too delayed to go (love those airlines!). Thanks for any and all advice!

The Main St Bakery is open. When I went in March I picked myself up a homemade ice cream sandwich for dinner! Cosmic Ray's is open with a limited menu, Casey's Corner is open. Sorry, I can't remember what else. I just gave my PPP times guide to a co-worker that's attending a party soon (it lists all the attractions/restaurants that are open). Have fun!
