I'm hoping one of you experienced ladies will help me out! I am a pretty experienced runner and did the Princess half in 2012. At the time, my husband and I just came down and had a long weekend together and left the kids with a sitter at home.
Lately I've been doing some shorter races (5-6K) with my daughter, who will be 9 next year by the time of the Princess next year. We'd like to go down as a family so that I (and maybe my husband) can do the 5K with our daughter, and then I can do the half the next day. I'm a little bit worried though, the 5K is almost as early a morning as the half, and it's the day before. For any of you who do both, do you find that doing the 5K affects your performance in the half? Are you even more exhausted before you start by the early morning 2 days in a row? Any suggestions on how to handle?
