Princess 1/2 2013...anyone else???

Thanks Happy Mom!!! Yes, we can do this. I will take a look at the new thread and will post over there too. Thanks for the link and encouragement.

I hope you have a blessed Easter weekend.

Ladies, I just got through reading all the way through the posts...what an inspirational and encouraging group we have here. I am IN for the 2013 Princess. I started last night with the Couch to 5k again. I struggled a bit, but I was able to finish and walk two extra miles. I have quite a bit of weight to loose, but I can't think of a better way to do it than to prepare for what looks to be THE funnest race ever. It will be my first. I cannot wait!!! The thought of running through the castle brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I will be running the race by myself, but my aunt will be there to cheer me on. :wizard: I hope everyone is doing good on their training and having a wonderful Easter weekend.
:welcome: to our little princessy part of the DIS!

If you are not quite ready for the Couch program, I had really good success with Jeff Galloway's Conditioning Program. I started with this, then worked my way up to C2K5 (I'm on week 1), then when I finish that, I'll go to Jeff's generic half-marathon training (also on his site), then around the time I finish THAT, I'll be right on target to use his Princess Half Marathon training plan (that will be on the RunDisney website later this year).

WHEW! Just thinking about it makes me tired!!!

Anyway, I totally agree with you - every time I think about coming out of the castle, I get all misty. Thinking about seeing the Sphere or the Gospel Choir at Epcot gets me misty. I recently did an 8.6 mile March of Dimes walk, and when I got to the end, I got misty! It was my first foray into the world of group walking/running, and I was just SO frakkin' proud of myself, I did cry a bit! I expect that I will blubber like a baby when they put that medal around my neck, and you know what, I'll be smilin' while I'm cryin'!

Everyone have a great Easter! I'm off to do a few miles outside - it's gorgeous out today!

Running through the castle is so amazing! This year as you entered through the back they had trumpeters up on the balcony. It was like they were announcing the arrival of every princess!

HI Everyone!

I have not been on here in a long time, but I just wanted to say that I am so excited, I have lost #29 so far. I know I have a long way to go, but I can do this! I finally feel like I am on track to loose alot of this weight and work the process of training. I am doing some running on the treadmill, but mostly walking right now. I have made some great changes and look forward to when I can officially start training!

I've got my calendar marked also! This afternoon when I was tired of walking, I just kept thinking about the PHM, and kept going.

When is the sign up day?

I too am looking forward to parts of the race. For me it is running down mainstreet. I get very teary eyed when I watch the youtube videos and see that, I can't wait for it to be me!

Registration starts July 10 at noon. Running down Main St. is sooo cool! There are tons of people there cheering on all the runners.

thanks! Well, we will be done with our vacation to WDW, Universal, and cruising the Fantasy just before registration.... I guess that will help with my post vacation blues! :thumbsup2

Amy - thank so much for the information...yeah, it does sound pretty exhausting...but WE CAN DO THIS!!! Yes, the thought of running down main street is what keeps me training. :)

Princess V - First, congrats on the weight loss!!! :yay: What all are you doing to be so successful? Keep up the good work. Will this be your first Princess Half?

Colleen - again, thanks so much for posting this. I cannot wait to get to experiance this moment and feeling.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures! Seeing other people's pictures and reading about theitr experience at the PHM really helped to keep me motivated last year when I made the decision to go for it.

I love all looking at the race photos of past years and reading others "race reports".
I can't wait to do this race. I'm so emotional at these sort of things I also tear up at the start of the races. I can hardly wait to run finally wearing a tiara on my head.

I've also got the date marked on the calendar to sign up. :thumbsup2

Quick question, when Jeff Galloway talks about walkers using a walk-shuffle ratio, what EXACTLY is using a walk-shuffle? :confused3

Thanks!!!
It started with DH and I signing up for his work Biggest Loser competition. I am just basicly counting calories, exercising and I had to cut out completely McDonalds (I absolutely LOVE) and potato chips(LOVE, LOVE, LOVE). I know my limits and I have absolutely no willpower around those 2 items, so for now I've cut them out completely. McDonalds since Lent started this year, and chips for about 3 weeks now. I eat alot more fruit and just watch portions.

this will be my first Princess half. Any half for that matter. I was supposed to be one of the original WISH members for the 1/2 so many years ago. I never lost the weight, and then didn't want to try to complete the 1/2 back then. I decided enough is enough. Always dreamt of doing a 1/2 marathon at WDW and decided it is time!!!

Hi! New here but wanted to chime in now that I've registered for the WDW half in January. It'll be my first half marathon - ack! I'm halfway through a C25K program and have really come to enjoy running (something I never thought I'd say!). My plan is to do the Jeff Galloway generic half training and then the January training, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time for both. DH is now trying to convince me that we should do the ToT 10-miler as we'll already be at WDW that weekend...hmm...

XO

Yes, welcome to our group. We're glad yall are going to run this race...we are all pretty excited about it. Do you know which plan you will use for the running part? :)

I don't know which plan we will use for the run/walk. We both work at a school (in admin) and the track coach/Athletic Director has been helping us. She gave us a plan to start with and it will be modified as we progress.

Right now we are just concentrating on distance and time. So far we have brought our times down. We are averaging about 18min/mile which is a huge improvement!! And we do about 3 miles a day (3 times a week) and so far we have hit the 5 mile mark and that was last Saturday. We will keep at this pace for a bit then start to increase a little. We have inspired a few people to walk with us when they can. So we are losing weight, getting healthy and having fun...al because of Disney!:thumbsup2

That's great that you are even inspiring other to walk with you !!! It sounds like your plan is really working for you. Just think about where you will be once it's race time. Good job !!

Well ladies, it is only 10 months until the race weekend we are all striving for!!! I hope yall are having a great day. I plan to spend some time at the gym today or at the local college running/walking. :cool1:
