Just recently saw Prince of Persia, and had to add my thoughts. All-in-all, the movie wasn't terrible (other than the slow-motion shots I just couldn't help laughing at). But I did see quite a few references to other Disney films...
Aladdin--Basically, the whole movie was like Aladdin. The early scene with the young streetrat Dastan racing through Persia's streets especially. Then you add in the princess...
Lion King--Evil uncle kills his older brother to gain control of the throne.
National Treasure--Presence of a secret underground system...Nizam even used a kind of wooden elevator to get down there.
Pirates of the Caribbean--Some of the characters (Sheik Amar and Seso) reminded me of the funny pirates, like Pintel and Ragetti.
There were also tidbits of some other movies, such as Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings (basically the scenery, as in the shot with the green expanse, the rocky cliff, and the birds), and even things similar to Star Wars ("You killed my family!" Technically, he's your uncle. He is your family).
Anyway, I actually thoroughly enjoyed the film, maybe because I watched it with a bunch of other college students who also found certain parts exceedingly corny. Just wanted to share those thoughts.
