Primeval Whirl

Dh and I rode this in Oct. for the first time. I mistakenly thought it was a "kiddie-coaster", cause it sure looked like one from the ground. Well, we are normal sized people and we were squished into the car. I have NO IDEA how they thought 4 adults could fit into that sardine can, but we were mashed in together begging the CM not to put in another couple. Well, when that thing got going and satrted spinning, DH (whi was sitting on the inside, I was against the "wall" of the car) was slammed into me and I was almost suffocating from his weight against me. It was disorienting, vomitacious (is that a word??), and so out-of-control that we were absolutely HYSTERICAL laughing. At the end of the ride, we were beaten, bruised, exhausted, unable to breathe and absolutely HOARSE with laughter. Totally an unexpected experience, and we won't repeat it again, but WOW...unexpected.

PS...we now refer to it as "Primeval HURL" (and I think many others here do too)

I will never ride this ride again. My DH, 2 girls did not enjoy it at all. It whips you around hard...sending your neck back against the hard frame. My body was thrown side to side. I love other roller coasters, but this was no fun. I wouldn't put anyone on it who was hesitant to ride it...I believe this particular ride just isn't worth it.

I'm in my 40's and giggle like a little kid when I ride it. It does whip you around. DH only tolerates it. The kids and I love it.

Oh My God!!! I am cracking up laughing at this one! What did your mom do when you got off the ride? Did she want to kill you?

She really was too traumatized to want to want to kill me or anything. It took all her strength just to put one foot after another. She was genuinely fightened. It took her forever to stop shaking.

I really thought she was having a heart attack on the ride. I was never so scared in my life. All I could think was that my Mom was gonna to die and it was all my fault. I was so relieved that she was o'kay enough that we didn't need to get an ambulance to carry her out of there. She never had to "kill me" or "give me hell," I felt guilty enough on my own.

I didn't find anything funny or laughable about the whole incident because it was too close to me 'cause she was MY Mom. :rolleyes1

HOWEVER, if you thought that story was funny, you will be ROTFL :lmao: with this story:

When my first DD was 8 months old, we went to WDW with my parents and DH's parents. DD had a bit of heat stoke, I think, so we stayed back at the resort with her in the a/c. Played in the jacuzzi in the room, etc.

The 2 set of parents went to MGM on their own for the day. They got on the line for Rock-N-Roller Coaster without realizing what kind of ride it was. MY Mom was smart (from prior experience), when she saw some of the warning signs, she opted to skip the ride and wait for the group at the exit.

My MIL who was oblivous, got on the ride. She is kind of pooh sized and has high blood pressure. When the ride ended, she couldn't even walk on her own. FIL and my Dad had to almost carry her to a bench outside so she could lie down. Her blood pressure probably shot up and made her extremely dizzy and lightheaded!

Of course, by the time the parents came back to the resort and re-told the story to us of what happened to her, she was already completely recovered. So, we weren't worried about her at all.

We had never been on RNR before so we didn't know actually how bad it could have been for her. We finally went on it about 2 years later when we left the kids with my Mom and went to WDW on our own for our 5th anniversary. Even though I thought it was kind of scary because of the speed, I laughed the whole ride. Everytime I got scared, I started laughing so hard because ALL I could think was "poor, poor MIL!!!" :rotfl2:

The faster and scarier it got, the harder I laughed. Even DH started laughing when gasping for air as I climbed out of the car, I said, " your... Mom... went... on... THIS... ?!!!!!"

I guess it's funny when it's someone else's Mom and not my own!!! :rolleyes1

I love rollercoasters and almost every ride I have ever been on, but this is the only ride I will not get back on. You get bumped around and the spinning were not a great combination. However, I've heard that people really like this ride (and the line was long-so I expected it to be good). I guess if your travel mate doesn't like other coasters they might not enjoy this ride.

I have to say that I think PW is rougher than it looks. You get whipped around pretty quickly, and it's more intense than the tea cups.
I agree. Plus I did not like it at all! I felt like I was at Six Flags... as most of the Dinosaur section of the park makes you feel anyways...

Perfect name ! I was really excited to finally ride it this last trip. It is a rough, scramble your brains, carnival ride.....so maybe that is exactly what it is supposed to be.........but was not enjoyable for us. I will ride anything and love the coasters, but this was nothing but jerks and bumps and bruises-to-go.

We rode this on a whim last year not know anything about it. It was my dd8, me and grandma63.

I was flopped, flipped, bumped, thrown around more than any other ride ever!!!

My MIL held on so tight to my dd's neck I though she was going to choke her!!

When we got off the ride dd8 ran up to everyone else and said "Grandma's teeth almost flew out on the ride!!!" (yes she has dentures LOL)

We are def. going back on it again this year, but I AM sitting next to someone else so that I don't get thrown around again :rotfl:

We love PW... It is a little more intense than the teacups as it whips around.. but we start laughing and cant stop.. This is one of my favorite rides...

I love roller coasters, hate the teacups, but had a blast on PW. I went on it with my dh and my friend's SO, so me and two males. I was in the middle. We all laughed so hard with all the spinning and turns. I don't remember feeling ill afterwards either. Maybe laughing is the key to enjoying the ride. I also knew what to expect because I rode a similar ride last summer at Six Flags and loved it then too.
