Okay, I have ALWAYS wanted to go to this restaurant and DH has too but every trip down we waited to late and could not get a seating without waiting for hours. THIS trip I want to go no matter what! Here is the hitch..my parents will be with us this trip and I am really worried about several things....
My dad hates being the center of attention.-unbearably shy..not the best choice of dining experiences I bet...how bad do they really harrass you (especially older folks)
Also I hear that they make a big huge deal out of cleaning your plate, my mom(as I have mention before) has gastro periesis and can only eat tiny amounts of certain foods(she could have a tiny portion of mashed potatoes for instance) What can I do about this? Can she share a dinner without it being obvious? Can we explain to the waiter before hand or something?

Can you tell me about your experiences...I so don't want to miss it again as this will be the LAST trip for a long time for us.

TIA

I think it really depends on the CM you get. I tend to fill up quickly and I was a little concerned about being bugged to clean my plate. Fortunately, I was only bugged about "not telling Mom that I got married.

I would mention something when you check in for your PS. They should be more than happy to accomodate you.

Have fun!

Don't worry. The waitstaff are pretty good about taking cues from people who are shy. They generally will pick out the person at the table who seems the most outgoing, and interact "normally" with the rest of the people. When people don't "play" back, they generally drop the "act". What I would suggest for your mom is for someone to share a meal with her, and let her tell the server when she orders that she has a medical condition that prevents her from eating much. No need to go into detail, that will be enough of a cue that the server will leave her alone, and probably be very kind to her.

My experiences there have always been positive there. One time when we were being seated, my teenage DS went and stood in the corner. The server saw him and asked what he was doing. DS replied "Well, I figured I'd end up here anyhow, so I saved you the trouble!" (with a huge grin on his face). The server was roaring, and then used my son as his "prop", if you will, for the rest of our meal. The other tables were dying as well. He was able to ge the entire room in on it, but all the attention was focused on DS...who if you couldn't tell by now is far from shy :)

I took a visually impaired friend who uses a service animal there for lunch one time, and the waitstaff bent over backwards sneaking the dog scraps from the kitchen--she ate better than we did LOL! In that case they made the DOG the center of the gags (after making sure it was OK with my friend) and again the entire room was roaring!

Go ahead and make your ressie and have FUN...

I went here for the first time in may and we had so much fun there. We didnt get harrassed that bad. My party consisted of me my 2 DD;s and my parents. The heat was getting to my dad and he wasnt feeling well when we got to prime time and our "cousin scott" brought him some water and didnt harrass him. My youngest DD was constantly reminded to use her manners "please and thank you" after "cousin scott" reminded her a couple of times she made sure to use them. She also cleared her plate which even surprised me and then she had dessert. We were introduced to our "cousins from colorado" who were sitting at the table next to us. The food was delicious and there was alot of it. I wasnt able to finish mine and was getting nervous about what cousin scott was going to say when he came back to the table but he was OK and gave me a box to take my leftovers back to my hotel in.

I loved this restaurant and everytime I go to disney I will plan on going back to prime time.

If anything, they may make your Mom take another bite (via airplane) but that would probably be it.

Maybe if you are more playful they wouldn't concentrate on the less enthusiastic or willing in your party. Screw up a couple times (elbows on table, talking with food in your mouth) and they'll pick on you instead.

HAVE FUN!

and every "cousin" we have ever had has picked up on that and only occassionally teased him just a bit. Once, when DS and youngest DD were still small (4 and 3 I think) they really didn't want to eat. They were too busy coloring and watching everything going on around them. Our "cousin" sat down between them and played with them and actually fed them until both their plates were spotless. It was precious watching him play the airplane game, the chew-chew train and many other games to get them to eat. They loved it and to this day they both ask to go back to this restaurant. WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

I did get fussed at once for my elbows on the table and also for trying to hide my green beans under my napkin!!!!SO FUN!!!!!

"Cousin" Topher found out it was our anniversary and...
