Prime Outlets Orlando - has a Disney Discount store - maybe some nice bargains.

Is it worth the cost of a taxi to get to the Prime Outlets Orlando ?

Are the shops open in the evening - and is it a safe area to wlak around in the evening ?

How easy is it to get a taxi back to our resort ?

If the taxi from the Dolphin costs $20 round trip to/from the Prime Outlets Orlando - and we go to just buy a few items at the Disney Outlet store - should we not go to the Prime Outlets Orlando ? Will we really save more than $20 on what we buy ?

First of all the Prime outlets name doesn't exist anymore. There used to be an Orlando Premium outlets located on Vineland ave, pretty close to Downtown Disney and there was the Orlando Prime outlets located on the north end of International Drive, close to Universal. The Premium outlets people bought the Prime outlets so now the old Prime outlets are known as Orlando Premium outlets International Drive and the other location closer to Disney is known as Orlando Premium outlets Vineland ave. They're both similar in look and size but the International Drive location is a bit bigger with more stores. This location also has several other outlet shopping centers around it as well. The outlets are open until like 11pm at night to give time to park goers to do some shopping after a day at the park. Both outlets are almost always pretty crowded to jam packed and are safe to shop at anytime.Like anywhere you go you should be on guard especially as you come and go from your vehicle but that's just a general safety rule you should always follow. The outlets in general are safe. The Disney outlets at both outlets are great because you can find a lot of great park merchandise at low prices, there used to be an outlet just like these near me at Dolphin Mall in Miami and they closed it,I used to get so many good things there over the years and unfortunately they closed it.

Yeah the Vineland one is opent until 11pm except on sundays when it closes at 9pm.

How much would a cab from DTD to these Premium Outlets be, and is it easy enough to catch one back to DTD?

From DTD to the ones in Vineland avenue it's about $8-10 last time I was there. And there's always cabs waiting outside the mall so you don't even have to call for one.

One word of caution though! There's always cab drivers that will hang around the entrance and ask if you need a cab, don't go with them! They are usually more expensive and you can't trust them. Choose the cabs that is more serious with logos on them, like yellow cab.

The last time we went shopping at the outlet mall, we took a cab from Pop(one of the cabs that were waiting out front ). We agreed on a set price before we left (a very nice lady at the check in counter had a list of what the cab fares were to different places) and when we arrived at the mall, the cab driver gave me his card with his cell phone number on it and told me to call him when we were ready to leave and he would pick us up. I called (using a pay phone) when we were ready to leave, he picked us up and took us back to Pop. While we were waiting for him (he only took about 10 - 15 min.) a different taxi stopped for us from another company but we wouldn't go with him. I believe the cab we went with was Yellow Cab if I remember correctly. It seems to me I had read somewhere that it is best to stick with Yellow Cab, then you don't run into one of the rogue cab drivers that tell you some crazy price when you reach your destination.
