Hello,am new to this whole point selling thing.I see most of the points for sale are for $10 per point. If someone has point for sale for Beach club during Xmas week, would the price most likely be higher than the usual posted $10 I have seen everywhere? Thanks for any info.

nancyny,
It goes according to the BCV owner who is offering the points. I have seen points higher at peak demand periods, but that is not always the case.

At Christmastime, you will end up paying more for a room even at $10.00 a point because the point schedule is higher for that time period.

Hi --

Although a lot of points rent for $10/pt, they can go from $9/pt to $12/pt depending mainly on the points home resort maint. fees(which have $1.29 variance from high to low) and when the renter wants the reservation in the rentor's use year cycle. If a rentor has points that weren't banked or used for any reason, then they are willing to rent them at a lower price. If they would have to borrow from next year allotment because someone wants a reservation 11 months out and that reservation would cause point use from the next use year (and we know the fees will be going up as usual), the rentor will want to charge more/pt.

The price for Christmas week on a per point basis should not go up, but the rental cost will be more because Christmas week is Prime season and Disney charges more points/day. A BCV studio will cost 181 points/wk. during Christmas week, while it would only be 104 points/wk. the 1st week in Jan. Also, BCV studios are a prime commodity because "Disneys Beach Club Villas consist of 107 two bedroom units (53 are lock-out units), 13 one bedroom units and 22 studio homes (according to Disneys public offering statement)". This means there are only 22 dedicated studios and a max of 53 lockouts available ---Good luck in your search.

Hope this helps.

Keep in mind that one is not "selling" their points, but rather "renting" their points.

When it comes to DVC, a point is a point is a point...all points are equal. One does not rent points applicable to a specific time period or resort, except when dealing with the 7-11 month reservation period in which your home resort is important, but the value of the point is always the same.

What makes some points worth $9 and others $12 are the intangibles associated with the point...time until they expire, restrictions like the 60 day rule, and when dealing with the 7-11 month window...the home resort.

As a general rule, points at the smaller DVC resorts may command a higher price than the larger DVC resorts simply because of 11 month booking advantage and the popularity of the smaller resorts especially during certain times of the year.

FYI, if you are wanting a BCV stay for Christmas this year, you are likely going to have to look for someone who already has a reservation there that they are willing to rent.

And they can charge anything they think they can get for it.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time out to post information, truly appreciated!! Nancy :sunny:

actually all points are not equal.............if a renter needs a certain resort at the 11 month window.............say for Xmas............there is a premium............and if you need to rent 500-2500 points you will also pay more..............at least from me you will..............i have upped my rate to 13.50 a point for these special situations.............
