just wondering...I know that when BLT first hit the market it was $112 pp plus a $5? incentive for current members...what was the opening price for non-DVC members?

I am wondering what the incentive will be for GFV and if we should buy a small DVC contract to get in on the incentive...not even sure if it is worth it?

If I were to make a guess it will be 180-200 PP less a 10PP discount incentive for DVC members.

Even with a discount its still too rich for my blood :(

Some BLT owners paid less than $100 per point at one point.

I personally think that is high. I think at some point early on you will see current members being able to buy it at $140 to $150 per point with incentives. Still to rich for my blood though.

Here is the first offer listed for BLT:

September 16, 2008 -- BLT announced. Sales begin on 9/21 to existing members at $112 per point plus a $5 incentive. Sales for new members begins on October 5, 2008. To open on September 1, 2009.

Keep in mind that incentives were higher the more points you purchased, maybe that is how people lowered the price to be less than a $100 per point.

There was an online sales presentation at some point with great incentives and some were buying at as low as $96 per point. I do not know how many points you had to buy to get it that low though.

I'll give my reaction to every time I saw the new prices for BLT through the year:

:confused3 -->:eek: --> :scared1: --> :lmao: (This is where I just accept not buying it at 165/pt

When I see GFV:

The stock market / banking collapse of fall 2008 happened about a month before Bay Lake points went on sale. DVC reportedly wanted to price BLT much higher but settled on $120 plus incentives due to the state of the economy. By spring 2009 slow sales drove net prices into the low $90s.

Unless similar economic conditions recur before VGF goes on sale, I doubt BLT will offer any insight into VGF pricing. BLT will soon be $165 per point. Expect VGF to be higher than that, with some unpredictable incentives attached.

We added on a 100 point contract at the BLT in August of 2009 for $101/point.

Within a short time of going on sale, BLT had better incentives. I paid $96/pt for it in April 2009-just about 6 months in to sales.

I think you will see the same process with GF--start smaller, get larger, then reduce again as the price goes up. Just can't imagine paying those prices. I'd love more BLT point--about 50--but am not paying that much for them and those are hard to find in my UY on the resale market.

I'll just wait a few years and then go for the 100 or 160 point ones! (SHHH...don't tell DH!!!):rotfl2:

It's Quite possible that this is too high I agree. But blt is around 155 now right? This new place is supposed to be their new flagship resort so it only makes sense by the time it's done the buy in will probably start at 180 plus -10 incentive.

Just my .02 cents.

We bought after the first webcast. At that time, they were offering $ off plus a free cruise, however you could forfeit the cruise and take even more $ off. When all was said and done, we wound up paying $92 pp for 275 points.

Personally, I don't think GFV will sell for more than BLT is right now, but I do think you are going to see point charts more in-line with Aulani.

Wow, thanks for that info, I didn't know it got that low.

I agree with your analysis on GFV. The cost will be lower than some people think, but the point charts will be higher than the other WDW resorts.

We bought BLT in the mid 90s in October of 2009. I'm not sure I would ever expect to see direct prices that low again for a new resort.

I sure hope you are right about the costs. I'll go for fewer nights, but we really want GFV points!

We paid $92 a point for BLT in June 2009. I know that was with incentives but I don't remember the specific incentives and what the base price was at the time.

For the first webcast, non-member pricing at BLT was $96/pt for 160 points and it went down for more points. I think 210 or 220 was $94/pt and 270 was $92/pt.

The last time I remember BLT being below $100/pt was a Black Friday 2010 sale at the Doorway to Dreams stores. It was $97/pt (member).

In addition to the economic crash that hit in 2008, DVD opened 4 resorts/sections in 2009. Kidani, BLT, THV, and VGC all opened in 2009, a time when they were receiving a ton of points back from foreclosures. Additionally, Disney was forced to do their own financing.
