We are looking to travel in late November from LGW. Direct flights are around £500 each with BA and Virgin, but connecting flights are a lot cheaper with other airlnes. We will have a two-year old with us, so direct would be better.

£500 (and around £400 for our grandson) does seem rather expensive for a direct flight. Is this the average people pay for BA and Virgin or is the price likely to fluctuate in the coming months?

Thanks in anticipation:)

Why don't you book a fly-drive?
Prices are very reasonable with Virgin Holidays -
01 Nov-10 Dec 419 adult , 199 child

Thanks - I just checked it.

There is £68 per person "fuel surcharge" to go on, as well as £20 "air passenger tax", which brings it up to the same price as the flight with Virgin/BA.

Just seems a bit steep for off season, term-time flights. Or is that the norm price? :confused3

Hello,

I would wait, as my feeling is the airlines will have special offers over the summer period, and as November is not high season you will more than likely be able to grab a bargain. We have 6 flights (5 ad, 1 child) booked for 2 weeks in December and in total are paying £1545 flying with BA direct from London to MCO, which we booked at the end of January '07.

We also flew with BA in Dec 2003 and payed the same price, which we booked in the September of the same year. At the time our daughter was just 2 and the direct flight was perfect, I think a connecting flight would not have been as enjoyable!

I would sign up with BA and Virgin to receive their newsletters and special offers, plus somtimes they offer you a little extra off ticket prices if you sign up.

Good luck, hope you find something.
