pricing a trip before discount is released

Now I know it is bad to plan or book before a discount is officially released but that is how I can afford the trip.
We are planning for a january 25th to the 30th 2016 trip. We are planning to stay at ASMU.
My originally calculations were based on paying the full rack rate and then getting quick service dining free (hopefully a promo)
but I was researching the stay play dine promo further and everyone is writing it is NOT considered free dining. what does that mean?
even if I am paying full rack rate but getting free dining to me that is free dining!

Play, Stay, Dine is not free dining. It's a weird discount that's pretty complicated. Here's a blog post attempting to figure it out:

I'll be there Jan. 24-30 at ASSp! Anyway, I had budgeted a certain amount for this trip for the room, tickets and DDP. Without a discount, it came out to almost exactly that amount, so I booked it. A discount (which I'm really crossing my fingers for) will just be a great surprise and savings for me... and may mean that we fly rather than drive!

People tend to say free dining isn't free because you are paying rack rate. Typically most of the year there is some promo going on so you don't pay full rack. So people will say some discounts + paying for dining is equivalent to full rack and free dining

As for bad idea to book before discount? Why? The only thing I would say is don't book a room you can't afford or don't want hoping for a discount. Book what u can now and u can always change it ounces a discount comes out if it's available. Technically a discount is not applied to your room but a new reservation is made
