We have two 16GB SDHC memory cards for our new JVC HD Everio GX-E10 camcorder.

They should hold about 4 hours of video, total.

What if we run out of memory while at WDW ?

Can we buy another memory card for our camcorder at WDW ?

Does anyone know the cost of a camcorder memory card ?
I know it may be expensive.
We paid $20, on sale, at Best Buy for the 16GB SDHC memory card.

thanks :goodvibes

Are those the little blue cards? People call them SD cards?

If so, they - like everything else - are ridiculously over-priced. If there is any chance you might need an extra, buy it at home!

I forget the actual price I paid, but I vowed never to buy another at WDW.

Our card is black - says PNY 16GB High Speed SDHC - Ideal for Hi-End DSLR Cameras and HD video - 220 minutes of HD video per card.

Maybe I will go back to Best Buy and pick up a 3rd card for DH.
The camcorder was a Father's Day Gift for him to use on our next WDW adventure. :goodvibes

Ah, my specialty.
1. If they're in the parks, they're too expensive.
2. Don't go off the time stated on the packaging, it's a pure estimate. Set your camera up on a table, plugged in to the wall, and leave it recording a wall while you're at work or something.
When you get back, put it in your PC and see how long the recorded video is, that's your actual recording time.
3. When you're buying a new SD card, you don't need to worry about the brand, only the size and the "Class" Class basically indicates the Read and Write speeds, what you need to look for is this:

The number in the circle is the class, if it's a 6 or higher, it's good to go for your camcorder, if not it'll have problems with HD Video.
Grab the cheapest card at that class or higher, whatever size you want, if you believe you'll need more recording time.

I'd just buy a couple more and take them with you. Prices are going to be insane at the parks.

My understanding of today's digital video is that the more motion there is in the scene, the more memory per second of video it used up.

So propping up the camcorder on a table and aiming at what you could call "still life" and turning it on and going out somewhere is not a good test of how long the memory card will last.

This is only true after lengthy compression.
Camcorders do not have the processing speed required to compress in this way on the fly.

Buy some more now and take them with you!! Stuff like that is ridiculously overpriced at WDW!

Yeah, i agree with the other posters. Definitely buy your memory cards before you leave.
Disney know these little things are essential and know they can charge whatever they like because if your card runs out in the middle of the day. You're not gonna go to Target lol...

You're gonna go to the kiosk and pay about $40 for a 16GB SDHC in the parks.

If you are worried buy a couple extra and just leave them in the original packaging. That way you can return them for a refund if you don't need them.

Check newegg.com or amazon.com - you'll be able to find a 16 mb card for less than $15.

Make absolute sure that this is the policy of the store you buy it/them from, however.

As others have before me, I recommend grabbing another card or two. They can be had relatively inexpensively, outside WDW.

Also, keep in mind...if you're bringing along a laptop, there's a better than average chance it has an SD card slot. You could transfer the contents of the card off and either on to your laptop, or on to DVDs/CDs/Flash Drives.

Then reuse the card.

I actually got a little gizmo that allows me to dump my pictures/video onto it, freeing my SD cards back up. I simply plug in my full cards when I sit down for meals and by the time we're ready to go, they're all set.

How big is that little gizmo?

I haven't seen those in a while. I think they stopped making them when memory plummeted in price.

OP just buy more cards and a way to keep track of them like on one of those SD card wallets. :thumbsup2
