Prices just hit my threshold :-(

Are you suggesting that WDW could survive on visits solely by the top 10% of wage earners?

You said is it 200-250 a night for a value and I was saying its not even close to that for a value they are 85 a night.

Not what I said at all. I'm break it down for you. They will continue to raise the price for a value until they hit a "wall." That wall could be $150 a night or may even reach $250 during a peak time. At a certain price point consumers will back off.

I haven't seen a value price that low in years. I couldn't get Pop that low with a 30% military discount.

Well, (I really hate this), he is right. If you go on a Sunday - Thursday, value season, they are around $85. $75 for FL resident. On FRI/SAT, they are $119.

FL resident discount must be better than my military one.

hey will continue to raise the price for a value until they hit a "wall."

Of course they will. Again, duh. They are currently doing this across the board. I don't understand your point, however. At that point, do they convert to Deluxe? Forcing dessert parties on everyone?

No. I'm stating that there is clearly high demand for their product. And the SOLE purpose of the Disney Corporation is to maximize shareholder wealth. Why wouldn't they raise the price to maximize revenue? And why wouldn't they target individuals that have add-ons that add to incremental revenue.

They should target the family that stays in a deluxe, gets the dining plan, has an extra signature dining event. Maybe books a few excursions. That's who I want in the parks as a shareholder. Not the family that stays offsite, brings lunch and asks for free water. Because now my high revenue family is stuck in line and can't get out there and spend more.

Of course not, but they have then maximized revenue per sq foot. Let's be really honest, Disney could say look these are Motel 6 like rooms. And we could make them really affordable for all demographics so let's charge $90. Instead they will push and people will still pay.

This isn't some super strategy it's let's see how much we can get.

So, why not only allow those who stay deluxe into the parks?

Even better, only those who stay deluxe can ride E ticket. You Value people killing my profit can ride the carousel as many times as you'd like.

Even further, why not let deluxe stayers go to the front of the line, unlimited, if this was really their plan?

Because you still make money off the lower paying guest. You don't want to get rid of them. You still need them. But you need to make it easier for the higher revenue guests to spend. They can't spend if they are stuck in line.

It's not really about riding the rides. You don't make any money off a twirl around Dumbo. I need to get you through this line as quick as possible so you can go spend money somewhere else.

Yes, exactly. Now we are moving forward. You still NEED them, and dont want to get rid of them. This is the balance that is being tested right now, and is being brought up. I think you are up to speed now! Disney makes it easier for higher revenue guests to spend by creating new property for them to spend on. I.E. bungalows, dessert parties..I am saying that they also new to create new property for the rest of the clientele to spend on (which they are starting to do). They have to be careful to not alienate the clientele the NEED.

Right. So, why make them wait in line? Why not get them to the front, on and off, back to spending?

Nope you aren't there yet. What you are suggesting is great - add new stuff. Build amazing wonders. But all of that is future capital spending. I need to maximize my revenue for my existing assets. That is what you are seeing now. The parks are way overcrowded and I can't get my high earners out of line. If you Mr. Low Spender want to be in the park during these busy times you now pay a premium. That way I have made up for the lost revenue.

She was asking where the line is for consumers when it comes to value resorts. How much will they be willing to spend, not how much is the cheapest value resort with the deepest discount. FWIW, a standard room at the All Stars in $199 per night from 12/18-12/31 and $219 for a preferred room. A Little Mermaid room at AOA is $224. Discounts over Christmas are far and few between and WDW is SOLD OUT. People pay over $200 per night for a value resort already.

Sure, the AP price just went up, but there is still a discount for DVC members and FL residents. The FL residents are blacked out of some of the highest demand dates with the cheaper passes but that may incentivize the locals to go more often during the available days to get more value out of their APs. They are counting on the locals to fill the parks during the "quieter" times. They'd rather have the locals there spending a little than nobody there at all. If they really didn't want the locals, they'd do away with FL discounts and possibly even APs. But I don't see that happening.

Disney also benefits form locals in non-parks ways as well. People vote. Disney also interacts with the local economy, like maybe hiring construction workers and food suppliers.

Giving locals a discount on admission = good will in the community = good publicity = local support.

We stayed at All Start Sports in September for 4 nights that were pretax under 80 a night. And I have no problem with that resort at all. I'm not sure why folks feel the need to bad mouth the values sometimes. Our room definitely served it's purpose. Don't get me wrong...I'm looking forward to our one bedroom at OKW in December but I'm guessing I'll stay at another value sooner rather than later. Well, after we stay at OKW in April 2017:-)
