Prices for points on rentals -- too much demand?

Hey, I'm with you! There are to many people giving their points away. Dues are always going up, yet the points are stuck in DVC Beginning of Time.

I agree, folks renting point from this board are getting a huge deal compared to other sites renting point. I guess the folks here just like giving thing away.

Renting isn't necessarily bad for Disney. Many timeshare companies spend a ton of money bribing prospective buyers and putting them in high pressure sales rooms. Disney doesn't need to do this in part because of the availability of renting. I wouldn't be surprised if a good percentage of renters wind up buyers similar to those who attend timeshare presentations.

we are renting for the first time this fall and found a wonderful DVC couple to work with. we only recently heard about the DVC and plan to check into in during our stay. my guess is that we will be owners this fall thanks to our rental :) .[/QUOTE]

Andifyou happen to buy, and don't have anyone to put down as a referral, putting the folks you rented from would be a nice thing to do. (just be sure to mention them in the vrey beginning of your talks).

I rented first and bought a contract from DVC 6 months later. Never even talked to a guide. Renting does benefit future membership sales for DVC.

We rented Sept 07 from a lovely couple who charged us $9 per point, allowing us to be able to afford a dream vacation . It was a our first time renting and theirs too. Thanks too them and experiencing what it was like to stay in a 2 Bdr we came home and bought DVC. BTW we used their name as referrals so disney sent them the promo they were having .

PS We are still in tough with the owners we rented from.

Agree. Not sure why it's come to be as the market demand is really big. It's a nice deal for the renters though. Just not the owners who pay the MFs and the hassles.

To the DVC members I agree its a supply verses demand situation when it comes to price per point if you can get it charge it.For the members who so call "low ball" at $9-$10 a point they may have to for a reason.I was lucky about 3 weeks ago and was able to rent a week at VWL at $9 a point.Why....the member is going through a divorce and needs the cash quick.Sorry for him thrilled for me.Its a stay that we probably wouldn't have been able to do this year if not for it.Also rented through members who just want to give someone else a chance at enjoying Disney for a real good price. So get what you can...but don't get mad at the "low ballers" they have their reasons. :woohoo:
