on my local news WGN chicago they just announced priceline will be offering a first time ever discount on disney resort rooms at the end of the month one catch you will not be able to price the room yourself great news for anyone looking to book starting at end of the month

I wonder what the cost will be compared to booking and getting free dining? I would think for those who fly particularly, the free dining would be a better option.

Also, am I reading that it will only be the value resorts? For those of us with 5, this won't be an option unless they have the suites available, and even then, the cost may be higher than a moderate booked through Disney.

Interesting.

It's not the first time Disney resorts have been offered through Priceline's "Name Your Own Price". The All Star resorts occasionally came up about 4 years ago.

The traditional booking part of Priceline usually offers rooms the same price as every other website. Too bad they won't be available in the name your own price inventory.

Priceline's Name Your Own price is NEVER a good idea for a family of 5. In certain markets it's not even good for any more than couples since PL only guarantees a single bed in the room. I once stayed at the Palmer House Hilton on a great rate through PL but we had a tiny room with just a Queen sized bed. There would have been no room for my DD at all.

ETA: Ooops ... After reading the article I see that PL plans to just use the Priceline regular booking engine and not the Name Your Own Price. In that case, the savings will be minimal.

Yes, I was referring to the way they are doing it and wondering if they will have larger rooms available as well.

As I said, I would guess that free dining would still be a better deal overall.

Free Dining is often a better deal :). We visited in August with 2 adults and 2 "Disney Adults" and the value of the dining was almost the same as we paid for the room at POR so we received nearly a 50% discount.

i have a question do you think the discount will be better than AP discounts?
