I am sure this has been answered before but I never read the posts as I had no reason to try Priceline.

Just for arguments sake, let's say. I bid $20 (for a 3 or 4 star hotel in the WDW area, of course I prefer 4 star !)

Do I then pay $20 + $4 (20%) + $5.95 (processing fee) + hotel fees (around $12) = a total of $36/night for a room?

Can anyone tell me what they bid and exactly what they had to pay?

I would like to try Priceline to see how it works.

do yourself a favor and go to biddingfortravel.com and read their Hotel FAQ. It will answer all your questions and help you bid more intelligentlly. It's great. I personally got the Dolphin for $75 this thnksgiving weekend.

Yes, do go to biddingfortravel.com ! try printing the FAQ to make it easier to understand. It's a bit wordy :)

In addition to the biddingfortravel faq, read the priceline.com faqs. They answer a lot of basic questions, while BFT is more advanced.

Why 20%?? Tax should be either 11 or 12%.

You will pay directly to priceline, as soon as your bid is accepted:
$5.95 per bid (per room, I think now)
$20 per night (or amt of your bid)
whatever the tax is on your bid amount (per night)

At the hotel you will pay the resort fees (if any) & any other charges.

Priceline is great, but you have to be very flexible! Take your time to learn about bidding so you can get the best deal.

I used Priceline to get a pre-cruise hotel in Miami and was very satisfied. We got an Embassy Suites for $50. The hotel tax was pretty high, and I think the total was $60. Our night at the CR is $66, and after tax that comes to $73, but that was booked through SoG not Priceline.

Just a minor correction ... the tax you pay is on the amount that Priceline paid for the hotel, not nessecarily what you paid. You may pay more than Priceline paid, but hopefully not! That's where BiddingForTravel comes in :).

$20 to $30 is way too low for a 4*. Last christmas I got the MOWC and Wyndam at WDW for $55 and $65 per night. Of course i wanted the swan or dolphin. Since then i have won a few bids with priceline, DTD Best Western $28.00 per night. Fairfield near sea world, $18.00 per night. Ive also gotten bids in the Sacremento and Disneyland area, SO really for 2* or better you need to up the price. Biddingfortravel.com is the best site, you have do your homework, you could get stuck with a place thats not where you want to be. Remember there is no canceling. I have once let the reservation go, because something better came up. Hope this helps.
