I am so excited that I just had to come post this and encourage others to not be scared of Priceline for car rentals! *DH and I travel to Orlando at least twice yearly and I have used every car company, ALWAYS utilize discount codes/coupons/frequent rental programs and literally spent all evening the other night crunching numbers for our upcoming trip in September, but couldn't find a price that was acceptable to us. *On a whim, I went to Priceline and bid a ridiculously low amount, and this was my result:
This was with Alamo, midsize for September 17 til September 25.
Your Offer Price: $8.00 (per day)
Total Rental Days: 8 days
Subtotal: $64.00
Taxes and Fees: $67.48
Total Charges: $131.48
Lowest Published Price: $305.10
Total Savings:* $173.62 (You saved 57%)
*Prices are in US dollars
I'm so happy! We actually only needed a two day, one-way rental from MCO to Cape Canaveral, then after our cruise a three day, one way rental from the port to MCO. Even factoring in the $60 fee for parking at the port, we still came out better than anything else I could find. Plus as an added bonus, we can leave junk we don't want to lug on the cruise in the trunk of the car.
So don't be scared! Priceline can be your friend!
