Priceline & Car Rentals

Anyone ever requested a luxury car and gotten it at a good price? I figure, if we're using priceline, may as well try for the really nice car. Worth a shot or go for the full size?

Also, out of curiosity, what is the advantage of the rental companies booking at such a low price? We arent going until October, does it make a difference how far in advance you book?

One more question: additional driver fees - how do you know if there are any going thru priceline?
Thanks!

:rotfl: Yeah, youre right!

Now, forgive my stupidity here, but even though you give your credit card #, you get to agree to the car rental terms before its finalized, right? I wont just get a note that says "here is your car like it or not" (ok, not quite like that, but you get my drift). :surfweb:

I was leary of doing it .......just incase it didn't go well and I got an email saying
"I will have one 1979 Exteneded station wagon complete with the wood panelling down the side waiting for me at the airport when i arrive...
My husband would never let me live it down.
You can look at the car classes. We got a Compact Car- Ford Escort /Toyota Carolla kind of car. So that is fine for the 3 of us! you have to chose what car class you want!
They refused Economy at $8 a day but accepted Compact at $9..fine for me

I just had the following bids rejected on Priceline:

$14.00 for a mid size
$11.00 for a compact
$10.00 for an economy

I thought with the successful bids posted here that I would get accepted! Are you guys using Priceline or something else I don't know about?

I'll have to try again in a dew days!

I just got back from Phoenix yesterday. Now, Phoenix is a really high market for car rentals- Hotwire was showing around $30 per day for compact. (my memory does not serve me right, checked too many times) I did secure a month or two ago a compact with enterprise for $111 for 5 days. I went to priceline and was able to get a midsize for $118 with alamo - not much better but a little bigger car. When we arrived at Alamo - of course everyone and thier brother was in line there. By time I got out to the cars there were 3 vans and one fullsize car in the midsize asle- What a deal- we were upgraded because of the lack of midsize cars. Took the quest van - must have been a 4 cylinder as I seemed to have gotten good mileage.

What dates are you trying to bid for ?? If it's over Spring Break, Easter or Mother Day, you might have to bid higher. My date were 7 weeks away and not over any type of high season , first week of May

It is for Mother's Day weekend. Why would that be a high travel date? I've heard it's lower but maybe they price up all holidays. I'm looking for May 7-12.

Keep trying and bid even lower this time.. if it's rejected, at a car class and add a $1 You have plenty of time to work the system..

keep us posted :hippie:
