I was wondering if anyone has rented a car through priceline at MCO. If so what company did you get and what was your winning bid? I am planning on going down there next week, and considering using Priceline, but I do not really want to leave the airport for the car. But, beggars cant be choosers haha.

You can always try a Priceline bid....the only off terminal company Priceline uses at MCO is Hertz in terminal they use Avis, Alamo, National and Budget)...but they do not show up terribly often and they do have great shuttle service so it is not a huge inconvienence if they happen to show up....rental rates vary widely on Priceline based on availability (demand)....my guess is next week will be fairly busy week since you are getting into the college spring break season. You can only bid every 3 days for cars so you do not have a lot of time....I would try starting at $15/day for compact and increase price to about $20/day for a midsize/standard.

I am assuming you already have a back up reservation you can cancel without penalty, so use that as a bidding guide....Priceline will show you what the total with taxes and fees is before you place the bid and if it is enough less than your regular reservation to make it worth your trouble then go ahead and place the bid....I would go about 20% to 30% under your standard reservation.
Good luck and let us know how you come out.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1698042
People are having great luck booking their rental cars through National. I booked an intermidiate size/unlimited mileage for 6 days out of MCO during springbreak for $177.00 total. :cool1:
Try it and see. Plus, if you sign up for their Emerald Isle service, you can go directly to the garage and pick up your car. No shuttle service. :drive:

Thanks alot... I am going to try priceline later on tonight before the rental rates go any higher.

I just got $9 day for April. I started at $8.... rejected..then they accepted $9 for compact car...8 day rental cost $113 with all taxes...

What you should bid is dependent on what the prevailing rental car rates for your dates. I usually start by checking the rental car companies on Orbitz, to get an overview of current rates from all the rental car companies. I then check Hotwire's rates, and will bid 20 - 30% less on Price line. Check out betterbidding.com and betterbidding.com to see what success others are having. Good luck.

There have been several threads on Priceline/Hotwore and rental cars lately, I sould suggest searching through this forum a bit, there is some quality information there.

That's exactly what I do. Only 1 time that I couldn't get a bid to got through with Priceline. Went back to Hotwire and got the best deal there.I have gotten great deals on economy, mid-size, full size and some of the best deals on mini vans.
Good luck

Not true cheapest I was was hotwire for $13.95 a day..so I started at $8...lots of people are getting then for $9 a day on these boards..its worth a try!

Could someone walk me through the process please? I wanted to get a car at MCO and drop it off at the Dolphin but it looks like that isn't possible...p/u and d/o have to be the same spot. I could drop my stuff at the resort, and drive back to MCO and take DME back if need be.
So....what's the process?

I booked the car from 10:30am (arrive at 10am friday)
we leave 8:55pm the following friday so we are keeping the car til 7pm when we are back at the airport..that way we have a place for luggage and stuff after we check out!
I'm sure if they have to be the same spot?

Can you change the times in the event your flights change, once booked thru priceline? Has anyone ever gotten a "bad" car thru priceline or is it just like booking thru the company itself as far as the fleet goes. Im clueless to how priceline works.

Just did a Priceline rental in Phoenix yesterday, and was given an almost new PT Cruiser from AVIS.:thumbsup2

the only downfall is
No Refunds
No changes
once its done..its done...

I currently have a backup reservation through Dollar using the KISS2 rate of $19.00 per day compact for 5/7-12. I think I can get a better deal on Priceline and I have 2 months to keep bidding. My bid was rejected today for $10.00 for a midsize so I am going to rebid at $11.00 next weekend (or possibly lower car class).

I have a question: You bid through Pricline and they accept offer and you find out the car rental company. Once you know the company can you sign up for their Fastbreak or equivilent service and rent the car at a kiosk? If I have to wait in the long lines it may not be worth the discount. :sad2:

Thanks!

What may I ask is not true? I was relaying my methodology and experience, also echoed by another poster, relative to bidding for a car on Priceline. If I don't get a bid accepted on Priceline, and I am happy with the Hotwire price, I can book with them.

I won a bid for an economy via hertz for $10/day before taxes. They let me upgrade to a midsize for a dollar more. I took em up on it.
