Hi All! I am thinking of taking a last minute trip to Boston this weekend and of course for last minute excursions, the prices for plane tickets is through the roof! Priceline accepted a very decent offer using the name your own price option, but before I commit, I am wondering if any of you have ever used Priceline? Are ALL flights red eyes? What about layovers? I have an extreme fear of flying so the more I know the better :lmao:

Thanks in advance for any replies!

I thought that once they accept the offer that you have already committed. I have only used them for a flight once so I might be remembering incorrectly. I know it's that way for hotels.

My experience with flying them that one time is that I had a 10am flight out and a 6:30am return flight. If you are only going for the weekend, a priceline flight is risky since they could potentially fly you out at 11:30pm on Friday with a 5am flight home on Sunday which really only gives you one day at your destination.

Have you ever been to www.biddingfortravel.com ? They have a lot of helpful information.

Oops, I worded my "acceptance of an offer" incorrectly. When you put in the price you are willing to pay, it shows that it is an acceptable price and then the next page is where you put in your payment information.. I got that far, but have not entered my payment info. Thank you for the advice, I was worried about the flight times for a weekend trip. I will definitely check out the site you posted. Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Unless they've changed recently, that does not mean they are accepting your price. I've never been successful getting a flight through priceline. With hotels, sometimes it says I've bid too low and other times it doesn't -- I've not found whether it said that to correlate to whether the bid was accepted. Once I LOWERED my bid after it said it was too low, and I got a room.

I use Priceline for Some hotels and cars but will not use them for airfare. I hate flying and I like to be in control of my times and try to make it the shortest flight possible. Not only can you get really late or early flights you can get long layovers as well as going way out of your way. My sister did Priceline for my Nephew from San Jose to Sanmta Ana which is an hour flight. They had him go to Salt Lake City from San Jose and the from SLC to Santa Ana. It took 4-5 hours with a plane change.
