How do I determine what it will cost to upgrade a 4-day hopper to an Annual Pass? I think it is called a Gold Pass? The one that includes the Photopass pictures?

Also, I have a complimentary pass that was given to me by Disney for use in December. It is a 7 day hopper. Since it is a complimentary ticket, I know that cannot be upgraded to a pass.

The main reason I want to upgrade the 4 day pass is to have the photos. If I buy the photo packages for both trips it will be $300 so I think the annual ticket makes more sense since i get discounts with it and such. Seems like it might make more sense financially. Am I thinking about this the wrong way?

Thanks,
Kyle

A couple of questions first:
Are you a DVC Member or FL Resident?
Was the 4 day ticket purchased before or after 2/12/2017?

Considering DVC for the Oct trip, but have not pulled the trigger yet. I do not live in FL. The 4-day hopper was purchased just this week.

Then you are not currently eligible for the Gold Pass which is only available to DVC members or FL Residents. Your only Annual Pass options would be either the Platinum or Platinum Plus.

They would credit you the current gate price of the ticket if you upgrade.

That makes sense about the pass. So, I just need to figure out if the money makes sense.

A co-worker suggested upgrading to me because the photos alone would be $300 between the two trips, but seems kind of silly for me to get the pass when I have a free 7-day hopper to use anyhow.

I was thinking the same thing on the gold passes - Michael is correct. I was a FL resident and now I'd have to upgrade to Platinum or + AP, which costs more than the Gold. Our decision process on upgrading to AP is simply if we think we will go within the time period the AP expires (within a yr.). If we think we're going in, say 11.5 months again, I look at the cost of my tickets (8 day PH+) and see if they equate to more than 50% of the cost of a plat. AP (+ you can pretty much count on another ticket price increase next Feb or so). We generally don't splurge for the memory maker, but the photo downloads would be an added bonus - especially the ride photos. Other bonuses to consider would be potential discount on your room as an AP, expanded list of dining discounts - recently even some quick service options 10% or more, shopping/tours (we don't really do), free theme park parking if staying off site.

I just did some quick calculations based on the tickets on the WDW website. the 4 day PH that you purchased this week should have cost $452.63 so based on the Annual Pass price on the website od 829.64 it should cost $377 to upgrade. The Memory maker cost of $169 each on the 2 trips would cost $338. The discounts that you receive as an AP holder should more than offset the $39 additional cost of upgrading to the AP.

That was my thinking as well. I have read a lot about AP specific merchandise, too, so I want to be able to take advantage of that if it is something I want.
