Hi we just learned that if you want to add on points do it soon because the price per point will increase to $101.00 this summer.

I believe that is only at SSR.....March the rates will go up from $98.00 to $101.00...........all other DVC resorts for add ons will stay at $92.00

Here's a newbie question- does an "add on" have to be at your home location for the initial contract? Or can you "add on" points at BCV, for example, when your initial contract is at BWV?

You can add on points at any of the resorts, not just your initial home resort. You must purchase at least 25 points (50 points if you want to finance) and the points must be the same use year as your original contract. The cost is currently $92/point to add on.

If you want to purchase a different use year, then you have to purchase a minimum of 150 points and it will be a new contract, not an add on to your existing contract.

I remember reading that the sold out resorts were going up to $95 at the end of July.

I heard $95 the same day that SSR goes up...March 31.

Next question- if I add on 50 points at a different resort but the same use year, does it all become one contract? In other words, if I ever wanted to sell on the secondary market, would I have a contract that was for 150 BWV points and 50 BCV points with the same use year that has to be sold together as one? Or two separate contracts, each of which could be sold separately from the other?

In some respects they are one contract: You can combine the points at 7 months to make reservations, and your banking percentages are based on the total points you own in both the master and add-on contract. However if you wanted to sell one or both, they are treated as separate contracts. You can even sell off your master contract and just keep the small add-on.

The question people usually ask is, can I combine points to make a reservation at 11 months, and the answer to that is no. For example, if you owned 150 points at SSR and added on 50 points at BCV, you cannot combine all 200 at 11 months to book BCV. At 11 months you can use only your 150 SSR points to book at SSR and your 50 BCV points to book at BCV.

I heard the same thing, except he had a hook on his left hand....

Beca, did you hear this from Gib? I sometimes regret letting go of that 25 points BCV add on last fall, but we really shouldn't spend the money now. I'm bummed to hear the price will be increasing so soon.

That is good to know. I thought that it was a minimum of 100 for add-ons at other resorts... didn't know you could do it this way... HMM, might be getting a small BWV add on.
