I didn't see any posts on this, but if I'm duplicating what has already been stated, I apologize.

I just spoke with my rep yesterday (Yes, about an add-on...) He stated that points are going up by $3 on June 5th. That will bring the price to <gulp> $98 per point. Won't be long until we hit that scary $100 mark! :earseek:

He also stated that it's safe to say that the current incentives will be good at least through April. I guess they always start new incentives at the beginning of the month, and here it is April 1st, with no word on any changes.

FYI! :wave2:

Thanks for posting!! I had not heard this!! Did he say if "sold out" resorts would be going up as well??

I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer regarding the "sold out" resorts. He and I were speaking only of the incentive package. I plan on calling him back today, so I'll try to remember to ask for you! :flower:

Yepper........its the 2nd time I've heard this...in 3 days!! So I guess its a "true rumor" now..

I spoke to my guide 2 days ago. I call him every month or so...to remind him...to remind Disney.... that there "IS" a month of September in our calander year...its my UY...and I'm still on the wait list for an add on!! :faint:

Well........
My guide told me that the dates of DVC price increases are as follows:

6/5 General Public prices ( Im assuming for existing resorts)

6/19 SSR price increase

Also....I was told NO increases announced for add on "wait list" people!!

BTW..... a new DVC video came out this same day...my guide says its a good one...waiting for mine! :goodvibes

A bit off topic, I guess, but I saw they give out DVC DVD's now, do we get one?

I'm sure you brilliant, well-informed folk already know this, but my guide (I'm not an owner, but a perpetual fence-sitter who has had the same guide ever since I first starting looking at DVC in 2002) told me when I called to request current info and points charts she expected an increase to $98/pp in June-- she even named the exact date, the 4th or the 8th or something.

I think it is still rumored, not official, but she's putting it out there to get my indecisive rear end off the fence :rotfl:

So far, everytime there has been a rumored price increase, it has happened. Each time the price creeps up, but the incentives stay about the same, so its by a couple of dollars each time.

When I purchased my first SSR contract in 2003, the price was $79 with incentives and now the incentivized price will be $90 if they stick with the $8 discount they have been offering.

The add-on specials have been great, but the new ownership price has continued to rise.

I think more and more people are realizing that the discounts on WDW resorts is getting more frenetic and are tiring of the wait for the limited codes so they are joining DVC in masses.

EDIT: This was in response to Jen's original post.

That may be true, but this is about the 4th - 5th time today it has surfaced. Several people have been told the same thing, and in quite a bit more detail. Makes you think it's true...or April Fools!

Sorry I didn't see this thread when I posted this afternoon. I guess someone helpfully moved my new thread to be a reply in this thread.

We just sat down with our guide on Tuesday to do an add on at SSR. He DID say that there was going to be a $3 increase in June. Also we did a 120 pt add on at SSR and had to wait for the paper work to go through today because the 100 point "bonus" goes into your current use year and mine was April.

We got the points for an $8 discount which brought it to $87. He also mentioned that there is talk about adding on a sit down restaurant at SSR. The original plans were for members to use DTD, but as the members "age" that may not be feasable. He also said that member comments are valuable, so keep em coming!

I must admit, I never thought I'd see the day DVC would go for $100 per point.

I talked to my guide today, we're on the waitlist BCV, said the price increase on SSR was on June 5, but didn't say how much. Also didn't know if price for waitlist was going up.

I am considering the 120 point add-on + the extra 100 pts.
Did you get this and an $8 discount incentive? I was not aware there was an kind of price reduciton being offered.

Is the $87 price good for anyone adding on?

That might help me make a decision!

Yes, we did get BOTH the $8 price reduction AND the extra 100 pts. We did this in person at SSR with our guide when we were there this week.

I predicted $100 a point on these boards years ago when the price was close to 80 and everyone thought that was so high. (We bought at 62.75 at BWV from DVC in 1998 and an OKW resale at 58 in 2002) I didn't think DVC would hit 100 until 2007 but it looks like it will happen sooner.

DVC has been averaging a little over a 5% annual increase over the years, and I dont see that slowing down. I look for 110 a point by 2008 and I look for resales of the "2042" resorts to continue to appreciate in price until about 2020, barring a huge change from trends of the past 10 years or so. You hesitate to use "investment" as a descriptive term for timeshares but DVC and lately Marriott have certainly earned that term up to this point. Just My Humble Opinion as a former finance guy.

Beca,

When I spoke with my guide on Friday, I actually remembered to ask about the sold-out resorts... :) He told me that they have not received any word on an increase for those resorts.

Also, someone asked if you get the $8 price reduction AND the 100 bonus points - Yep! And let us not forget the perk of paying no Annual Dues on these points until 2006.

Three (count 'em - three!) incentives for one add-on... My husband and I were sold. As of today, we are the proud owners of 120 more points! Yay! :Pinkbounc (At least until I see the first "new" payment come out of the savings account...)
