Just got an email from my guide. June 24, prices are going up $5 a point at Aulani, and $10 a point (!) at VGF.

Wonder how much $$ before Disney prices themselves out of the market? $165/pt plus the high point chart to stay there- outrageous !

If I want more point I'll buy resell.

DVC was a good purchase for us in 2005 but it's a continuos expense.....

Not to mention the points are getting outrageous..to stay at the newer resorts....after all it's just a room.

I had a 1 brm std booked at VGF and it was 46 pts a night, we ended up getting guest so I switched out the 1 brm/1bath to a 2br/3bath at BLT lake view for 52 pts.

And nothing really new is being added to the parks....... I go 3 times a year ( live 1.5 hours away) and I'm bored, my kids are bored.....they really need to add something new. The highlight of our spring break trip was seeing the Middle TV show being tape.

I'm so glad I bought when I did.......I do love my DVC but when you can get them for $50 less per point why buy from Disney and if I can rent the pnts for $10 per pt why buy more points?

I can't believe how expensive the newer resort are in comparison to resorts that aren't even that 'old' (I'm thinking of SSR and AKV in particular).

When you compare OKW to VGF... I will take OKW any day of the week for that price difference!

Now in the interest of honesty, we have 2 nights in a 1BR booked for July - just to stay there, and since we are only going to be there two nights, it was the perfect chance to try it.... just to say we have.

I don't think it will be an OH MY GOSH! I MUST STAY THERE EVERY TIME....I MUST BUY POINTS!!!! experience...

It will be, well, that was nice. How long could we stay at OKW vs VGF? OH, OK, let's go ahead and book OKW!

My jaw hit the floor a few weeks ago when I saw the VGF fixed week, during Christmas hit the resale market - it was close to $75k! :scared:

Yeah, NOT for me and mine!

Disney's just setting up for the Polynesian to open at $180 - with point requirements similar to VGF - or WORSE

Very limited supply of rooms to DVC now - supply down, price up.

I think you're right. Somewhere, there is a plan to break the $200/point barrier with DVC Poly. We may stay there, but I don't see owning.

Honestly, I think they're freeing up the $150/pt. price for the Poly. They'll want to keep Aulani and VGF as the higher priced options being flagship resorts.

I'd be surprised to see Poly open less than VGF. While VGF may be the perceived as the most opulent, there is a pent up demand for Poly like there was for BLT and VGF. So I think they'll fetch a premium for those points. I'm betting they'll be on par with VGF in terms of pricing. Poly also has the benefit of being able to get right on the Epcot monorail where the south end of the Poly touches the TTC. Stayed at Poly a couple years ago for a conference and this was big plus over VGF that most of the guests there don't always know about. (though the VGF building is close enough where you could take an extended walk to the TTC through the Poly)

Just my thoughts...

A perception Disney has intentionally cultivated, mind you. Pricing factors into that. It costs more to book at room at the Grand than any other Disney resort on property for exactly this reason. Demand or not, I can see them keeping the price on VGF higher than the Poly if for only that reason. If any resort will hit the $200pp mark, it'll be the Grand first.

And the resale market just keeps looking better and better to me!

And our original purchase at $75/point through Disney only 12 years ago looks pretty good too. Not to mention the HHI points that we bought for around $58/point. You know, those BCV points that are about $100/point resale don't look so expensive anymore.

Well with the current popularity of the poly , I bet they could sell $250pp and get more people to buy the. You would expect .

But to be honest the prices are getting way out of hand at close to $200 pp . If they don't make a reasonable point chart , witch I don't think will happen either .

We were just down in March for a Spring break trip and stayed at the VGF for 2 nights. I thought, why not snag a couple nights when we can. We had stayed two nights once at the GF and didn't feel at home there. I am astounded to say I LOVED the VGF! If it weren't so points expensive, I would stay there much more often. No chance of us purchasing there or the Poly -- which I do like. DH has just developed some serious health issues and that's #1 priority. (We just had to cancel our long-awaited Alaska cruise). I do agree with the resale comments

I agree with the pp that after our recent stay at VGF, we absolutely loved it too, but would never consider buying in. We own at SSR and have not had problems getting into other resorts. I can't wait to stay in the new Poly.

I really wish I knew what the break even timeframe is now with these types of prices. Back when I bought BWV for $74/pt, the break even timeframe was 5-7 years. What is it now? 10-14yrs?

Not to far off from the seven year break even. The resort prices have skyrocketed for cash rooms since then as well.

Wow, I guess because we don't tend to stay at cash prices anymore, I hadn't realized that the prices had increased that much.

That's easy they just raise the cash price of the rooms to adjust .The break even point is the same unless you compare the prices in a different way .
