Price increase coming 10/9

Every year we see this same thing repeat every September with Disney Parks and there really isn't an answer why Walt Disney World as well as Disneyland do these price increases. But the most logical answer to this question might be because it's gonna be fall and the fall is the busiest time for all amusement parks and with weekends such as Labor Day Weekend and Columbus Day Weekend in October and Thanksgiving Weekend in November these are the times that most families take fall vacations and amusement parks in general make the most money during fall holiday weekends. But I think in Disney Parks case they will begin to make lower priced packages especially since you have Halloween Thanksgiving and Christmas coming soon and most families like to spend Christmas at Disney Parks as a Christmas gift for the kids. But I can predict the restaurants at Disney Parks will offer special lower priced discounts for character dining but the non-character dinners will remain at the same price. Because people like spending money on character dining like character breakfasts and dinners just so the kids can meet characters at character breakfasts and dinners without having to wait in a long line to see characters in the parks. But once Thanksgiving is over and December comes we will see Disney Resorts have Christmas packages for the resorts. But I think Disney Parks will have competition with Universal once this price increase goes in effect October 9th

Every year, their costs go up, thus their prices increase. A lot of this years increases go strictly because wholesale food supplies have increased dramatically and they negotiated a new CM contract with good sized increases in their pay which does affect the bottom line. When everybody from the CM behind the hotel check in to the janitor at MK, to the mouskeepers, to the people in the parade get raises, that means higher costs which means price increases. I don't like price increases any more than anyone else, but with today's economic picture, we don't have to look very far for an answer.

Their prices have vastly outpaced inflatation. They go up because of greed, nothing more, nothing less.

A smart CEO would read the writing on the wall, but Iger is in his own world.

I expected ticket prices to rise, but if Disney+ rises that will be laughable. They just don’t have the quality new original programming (Trasholyte?) to ask what they are asking let alone raise the price.

Good catch, didn’t notice the price of Disney+ was already slated to increase. That is unfortunate, they don’t really have anything to justify it.

To me it would totally be worth it if they would just add any and all missing catalog titles. I'd be happy with it as just an archive - though the original content is nice to have too.

To be fair, I don’t even think Netflix is worth it anymore. I’d pay what I initially signed up for, (I think 7.99 a month?) for Disney’s sizable back catalog access. Almost none of their new series have done it for me except Mando, and the new kids shows aren’t that good, either. We are about to cross the “100 a month” threshold for streamers which is what caused most people like myself to cut the cord to begin with. Netflix when it had access to Disney’s catalog and was also making great original content all for 9.99 a month was pretty much peak streaming and it’s all gone downhill since n

I've found more than that to like with their originals, though many have been disappointing, mostly the Marvel stuff, which is one of their big selling points. I'd still be very happy with a complete catalog, but they don't seem too interested in filling in the gaps.

I can't imagine spending anywhere close to $100 a month on streaming services. My wife and I have just about everything (8 in total) and come in just under $40 a month.

Disney Plus originals have been very lackluster but I think every service has been that way. The only service I find to have consistently good originals is Apple TV. Peacock and Paramount have to be the worst in terms of original content.

Of course the amount changes based on what’s important to you and whether you want ads, need it for more than just 2 people, etc., but we are at the point that to recreate a cable TV package from 10 years ago is $100 and won’t even include live TV in most circumstances. Every studio decided they wanted to make their own walled garden for their IP and we are back at square 1.

We are still nowhere near square 1. While every service has decided to introduce ads, the flexibility in streaming is still miles ahead of cable. You can cancel and sign up whenever you want to with no strings attached.

I have Netflix, Disney Plus, Crunchyroll, and Apple TV without ads and Peacock, Hulu, Prime and Max with ads. I currently spend less than $40 a month and I could make an argument that it is less than $30 a month based on how I associate the costs of bundles items.

We are no where near cable in terms of pricing unless you pay for no ads and full price, which is near impossible to do as every service has some sort of bundle or offer to make it cheaper.

Well, a lot of the best stuff on D+ has just gotten no buzz. The Mysterious Benedict Society was the best - possibly the best show ever made - and nobody watched it. In my opinion the Star Wars stuff has all been pretty good, if not excellent. Some of hte MArvel stuff has been good, but a lot of it has been disappointing in the last episode or two. They can never seem to stick the landing.

Ok, have a good day.

I am not a big Star Wars fan, so I have not watched everything there but have watched all the Marvel shows. Marvel have been hit and miss but for me, I have liked more shows than I have hated.

The one thing I do wish, is that they do more animated series. I have enjoyed Monsters at Work and the shorts like Baymax and Zootopia. Have big expectations for the Win or lose Pixar show.
