Price Drop

We have a car booked from May 1st - May 14th with Dollar car rental. I just went online and checked and the price dropped by $50. Do I need to cancel my old reservation and re-book to get the new price or will this automatically update? Do these rates tend to fluctuate a lot? Should I re-book right now or wait to see if it goes down more? Sorry for all the questions... I have never rented a car before.

Re-book and then cancel the other reservation.

Assuming that you have a regular reservation, not a pre-paid one. Then book the new reservation/price and then go back and cancel the old one. Don't wait, do this now as prices can go up just as quickly.

Keep checking back because the prices can drop all the way up until your arrival.

Don't pre-pay unless you find a phenomenal price because the change fees for a pre-paid will negate any savings from a price drop. Change fees on a pre-paid can be anywhere from $15-$50. It's free to change/cancel a regular reservation

Thank you to both of you. I did re-book right away.. it was only a savings of $50 but thats like $70 Canadian.. and hey $70 is $70.. a tank of gas.. at least up here is it.. I think gas is cheaper down there. I will keep checking! Thanks again.
