Price Difference between Expedia and Disney website for Values?

Hoping someone can answer my question....I am looking at the value resorts for a stay in May and notice that Expedia has All star sports for $87 per night but the exact same dates on Disney website list $128 per night for the same standard room at Sports.

What is the difference in booking through Disney (we are not doing the meal plan) vs. Expedia? Anything other than the ability to buy the meal plan?

What am I missing?

Thanks!
Meredith

On the disneyworld.com site, make sure you click the special offers button at the bottom and price it via that link. Expedia seems to be the same for me, usually. Unless I use a passholder rate.

Thank you, you were absolutely right. I went to the specials on the bottom and booked that way and it was the same amount as Expedia!

Yes, on matching rates - usually you can get the same one through the specials on the Disney site.

Another caveat when booking through a third party like Expedia or Travelocity: in the same way as when booking with a human travel agent, the reservation will be "owned" by them and not by you, meaning Disney will not discuss changes or requests with you directly, and you will be bound not only by Disney's change/cancellation policies but also by the booking party's own policies on changes and cancellations, including any fees or whatever that these third parties may charge.
