We knew today was going to be a long day. Wake up at 4:00 am to get ready to our 6:00 am flight. We honestly run to the plane! I had a full gallon Ziplock bag on 800 speed film that the airline checks by hand. Took awhile. Barely make the plane and get settled. DD does great considering she's up at this time. In a couple of hours, we are in Florida!!!! I'm ready! We use the Mears shuttle to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge and have a pretty quick check in. I had faxed over a room request a few days prior and got exactly what we had asked for. We were in room 3561 at the end of the Zebra Trail. GREAT ROOM!!!!! I had read negative things about the lighting, room size, walking distance, etc. WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE??!! The lighting was fine and the room was a hotel size room. Picky and cranky people annoy me, so please bare with me. The walk was not as bad as people make it out to be.
It is about 12:30 pm by now and we are off to Animal Kingdom to eat at the Rainforest Cafe. We had ressies at 12:00 and didn't get there until 1:00. We had to wait about 15 minutes. Got in there and had no idea what we were in for. I did not know what the place was like. Our tablewas next to some cool looking gorillas. A few minutes later, it gets very loud with animal noises and the gorillas start moving. Not Good. DD starts screamming and freaking out. I, myself, am startled at how loud it was. If I had known all of that was part of the "dining experience", I would have gone somewhere else. The food was good, but will not return unless DD wants to. She was not happy with the noise. It was not a good start to our Animal Kingdom day.
After lunch we see the Lion King show. Great show. DD had her fingers in her ears the whole time because it was loud. After the show we headed for the Safari ride. They started setting up for the Parade and we find a spot right outside the Safari Ride entrance to watch it. Great Parade. Since were at the beginning of the parade, we were the one of the first to get up and head into the Safari ride. Great ride. After the ride, we run out to the Animal Petting Area. We played with the animals for a few minutes before they got put in for the night. We take our time walking out of Animal Kingdom and on our way out, we see Rafiki, Stanley, Pooh & the Gang, a few others. We get a few autographs and head for Magic Kingdom to go see the fireworks. One Word..........CROWDED!
It was too crowded to try to walk over to the Bridge to Tomorrowland which is where I wanted to watch the fireworks, so we ended up finding a sliver of a spot in front of the castle around the Partners Statue. GREAT PLACE!!!!!! I will watch the fireworks from there next time. We got some great pictures. After a great, but loud, fireworks show, we slowly head out of the park with everyone else "mooing" like cattle to make light of a very tense and long day.
We get back to AKL on a packed bus and get dinner at the Mara to take up to our room. DD was out like a light very quickly, but did pretty good for the most part.
