So, Pressed Penny Experts...I've read that the older pennies (pre-1982 I believe) are better than the new shiny pennies because the new ones can smear? Is that true?

Just want to be sure we collect the right pennies for our September trip. Thanks!

It is true. The zinc content in the newer pennies is higher, and could cause a discoloration in the pressed penny.
