How much does EACH machine cost to press a penny? I need to make sure I am prepared in advance.

Also, how much do the pressed quarter machine cost?

Thanks.

All the ones I've ever come across are 51 cents (two quarters plus the penny). Not sure if that's what they are at DW, though.

My 7 year old loves doing the pressed pennies, and I just bought him some collector books off of eBay to put them in.

A little OT but I thought worth including: Check out this awesome project someone did with Mentos gum containers for keeping their pressed pennies in:

Awesome! :thumbsup2

My son was on a mission to get as many pressed pennies as he could and the machines were $0.51. Make sure you have nice shiny pennies! They seemed to make the best pressed pictures. :thumbsup2 You can also buy a pressed coin book at some of the stores. We bought one at the AK. I cannot remember how much the pressed quarters are, though. We didn't do any this trip.

Have fun! :goodvibes

My kids just got into this at the end of our trip last year, so I'm sure they will be into it this year. I got 2 M&M mini tubes, and stacked the coins in order: quarter, quarter, penny repeat

I have heard the best pennies to use are pre-1982, because of what they were made of. I cleaned mine with lemon juice, and now I have old, shiny pennies.

Heading to WDW in a few weeks for our 11th trip. We have not been in several years (when the kids were younger). We loved collecting the smashed coins and made it a mission every trip to find ones we did not get before (kind of like character autographs).

Anyway, just checking the good ole DIS boards for new machine locations and sure enough I was not disappointed. I was curious at to whether or not they still have any gold dollar coin machines (Sacagewea) down there? I have a couple from previous trips and thought they were the coolest things.

Also, if you can, go to eBay and buy you some pre-1962 shiny pennies. They are made out of copper and keep their luster longer. Pennies made after 1962 (or 61?) are a zinc-copper mix and will tarnish after a while. I just bought a roll of shiny 1961 pennies in a plastic tube with screw on lid for less than 5.00 with shipping.

Good luck

The are .50 plus the penny. You can download lists of locations, but, you can also ask for that information at the Concierge desk when you check in at your hotel. I'm guessing the official Disney lists would be the most up-to-date.

My boys are so silly...they refuse to get 2 of any one design. On the last trip I finally broke down and asked, "So, when you're adults, will there be a custody plan for the pennies?" They just can't believe that there will come a time when they might wish they each had a complete set. They've learned my frugality and just won't pay for two of the same thing, lol!
