Pressed Pennies?

First of all, I need to apologize for being too lazy to do a search. However, would someone be able to tell me... How much is it to press the pennies? I remember doing it a couple of times for DS on our last trip (3 yrs ago) but can't remember how much it was. Also, seems I remember reading somewhere that certain pennies work better than others. Does anyone know what the date on the pennies needs to be to be old enough? TIA

It costs 51 cents. Of course, the one cent is what gets crushed.

I just buy some rolls of quarters and a roll of pennies at the bank. I don't bother looking for older pennies. Yes, a few times I've had a silverish streak appear when pressed. However, my son never really minded.

Unless you really want to save them as collecter items, I would not bother with locating older pennies and cleaning them up.

BTW, they also have pressed quarter machines which cost 4 quarters plus the one that gets pressed.
