Pressed Pennies Checklist

Much easier than sorting & cleaning pre 1982 pennies... go to a coin shop and ask for a couple rolls of pennies that are pre 82. They will cost less than 2 bucks each and save a ton of time!

I do this every year and it works great. They are nice and shiny. Good luck!

My Mom had a can of old pennies around her house and I raided it before our last trip. I went through and found the best pre-1982 pennies I could find. I attempted to shine them up -- it was easier read than done -- and packed them in my mini M&M's tube. Halfway through the trip I ran out of pennies and had to change some dimes and nickels to get the rest I needed. I think I like the newer pennies better than the older ones, but that's just me. Plus, between all the sorting and shining, just going to the bank and getting a new roll of shiny pennies is a LOT easier.

My kids shine up all the pennies with erasers. They just erase the pennies until they are shiney. Then we roll them in a roll to manage them easy and take a roll of quarters with us. They fit super easy in the camera bag. We also carry a small change purse that zips to carry the pressed ones in.

Thanks for all the info!!! I bookmarked the presscoins.com page and will print out a list and add up how many rolls of change I'll need when it's closer to our trip. Hubby is even looking forward to the Firefighter ones and Dalmatian ones. I'll also add the books to the "must have souveniers" list I have.

Thanks to all of you who have turned me on to the pressed pennies book. Is it absolutely essential that your pennies be pre-1982 ? I have a roll of brand new shiny pennies I was going to take, what would hapeen if I used these ?
