President's Week Madness -Dining Reviews w/pics - updated 3/16 50's Prime Time

Dinner this night was at Maya Grill at Coronado Springs resort.

We ended up checking in about 45 min. early. We were grateful they had a table for us. If we ended up waiting we would have walked around the resort.

When we were waiting for our food we discovered the couple next to us were from close to home. So we started talking to them. They were very pleasant people.

This is probably the best place for a kids meal, in our opinion.

Here's what DD9 had:

MayaGrillcheesesticks.jpg

This was her appetizer. Cheese sticks. She enjoyed these!

MayaGrillBeeftipskidsmeal.jpg

Her entree was Beef tips w/corn & fries. She enjoyed the selection here very much.:thumbsup2

Rolls brought to the table:

I had the Mixed Grill Platter. What a platter! This had the ribs, strip steak & Mahi Mahi. Plus mashed pot. and a veggie. This was around $40.

Desserts were:

This place was a pleasant suprise! Service was good, food was good & good selection. We would be tempted to go back here again.

That really looks good. In seven stays at the CSR, we have only eaten breakfast at Maya Grill once. I think we should try to squeeze in a dinner on our stay there in September.

After another Pop Breakfast, we headed to Downtown Disney for lunch.

I had a reservation at T Rex for 11am. It was pointless to have a reservation. They told us to get in line & we'll be seated. Pretty much 1st come 1st served.

We waited about 15 minutes before we ended up getting a table.

This place had good food as well as a great atmosphere.

Husband had the Bronto Burger

trezadultburger.jpg

I had the Layers of the Earth Lasagne. This was awesome. Great flavor, tons of cheese. I ate pretty much the whole thing.

DD9 had the Dizzy chicken

DD10 had Sly's Slider w/o cheese

The kids ordered the jello and cinnamon apples with their meals.

We really enjoyed this place. Here are a few more pics for those of you who are curious about the place.

Up Next: Whispering canyon cafe

T-Rex looks awesome! So many places to try and not enough trips!

I totally agree! I like the looks of Tony's too. I've always wanted to eat there but there are so many other places in the MK area that the kids love that we never seem to get there.

I don't know if that's very true for you Nicki! Since you're the "resident dining reviewer" we're all counting on you to use your many trips to try every single WDW restaurant for us!!

Dinner this day was at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I had an 6:45pm ressie here. Good thing I did. It was booked, and they were turning walk ups away.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect here, but it was all good! :)

The kids ordered milkshakes for their drinks. Free refills.

DD9 had the chocolate shake

wccchocolatemilkshake.jpg

DD10 had the cotton candy shake. This tasted to me like a big vanilla cake.

Sorry, can't find DD10 ice cream pic.

Our waiter was good. We had to say goofy things, remember desserts, our napkins & straws were thrown and we had to do the hokey pokey. We never asked for ketchup but seen plenty of ketchup activity. We swear there had to have been close to 20 bottles being passed around.

There were also stick pony races. The kids did it but we think next time they won't, their getting alittle old for that. But DH & I thought it was fun to make them.

We would go here again. :thumbsup2 If was fun and a change of pace.

Hmmm. The kids skillet is completely different then when we went in August. Then, they were part of the adult skillet with everything. They also got an appy and dessert so it was a great deal. DS would have been so disappointed if all he got was chicken as the ribs and pulled pork were his favs. Wouldn't have mattered as DMom and I got the skillet as well and of course your DD could have eaten off yours if she wanted. Just wanted to point it out to others as one of our main reasons for going there was so DS didn't have to have a typical kids' meal and could eat some adult food which he prefers.
We loved our drinks there. :goodvibes

TRex looks better than I'd expected it would. Guess I shouldn't rule it out just yet.

I was suprised as well. She had a choice of ribs or chicken. She ate off our platter as well. Dessert was her cookies you see.

Thanks for the reviews! Looks like you had a great vacation (sorry you had to come back to the snow!!)

Glad you enjoyed T-Rex, I can't wait to try it.

Another day, another day of food.

We had the trusty Pop Food Court B-fast again. We mixed it up allitte this time.

Nough' said.

We went to Magic Kingdom again this day. This was our next to last day at WDW.

Lunch was at Cosmic Rays.

I'm sorry, we got split up here and I was left on my own to get my stuff. When I got back to the table everyone had started eating their food. So here's what I had:

Chicken / Rib combo. The ribs are there, trust me. They're covered up by the big chicken. This was tasty.

We left MK in the afternoon & headed to the Boardwalk. We rented a surry bike for 1/2 hour. Let me tell you. That was a work out! Those hills are killer.

We also wanted to see if we could meet up with a friend who was staying at the Boardwalk. We chatted for awhile and headed to dinner at Spoodles. We didn't have a ressie, but got right in.

DD10 didn't like any of the adult selections, so she ordered the 4 cheese flatbread app.
spoodlescheeseflatbread.jpg

She made a face after the first bite. The husband took a bite, then forced me to have a bite as well. This was a strong pizza. The cheeses on here were strong. Come to find out there was goat cheese & blue cheese on it. We asked if she could just get a "regular" mozzarella pizza. They said no problem and one of the chefs brought her out one. No picture, sorry. They were very nice about the situation.

DD9 had the beef kabob kids meal
spoodlesbeefkabobkids.jpg

DH had the Wood Grilled Pork Tenderloin
spoodlesporktenderloin.jpg

He enjoyed this meal. He said the pork was very good.

I had the Oak Fired Steak Kabobs. Good, but spicy.
spoodlesbeefkabobs.jpg

For dessert DH had the gelato
spoodlesgelato.jpg

I had the Chocolate Espresso Cake. Yum.
spoodlescake.jpg

The kids had a make your own dessert. This was kind of neat. It was, I think a sugar cookie.
spoodleskidsdessert.jpg

This was a neat place to try once, but don't think we'll head back there until the kids are older.

Sorry for the delay on the last of my review.

After Spoodles we walked around the Boardwalk and bought way too much fudge. We watched the entertainment and made the trek back to Pop.

After another quick breakfast at Pop, we headed to Hollywood studios.

I had a ressie for 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch.

This was probably the most dissapointing meal we had at Disney. Don't get me wrong, the food was tasty. There were other issues.

We didn't have to wait to long to get our table. But our table was over by the kitchen, so it was a busy spot to be in.

Our waitress, I can't even remember her name, wasn't very fun at all. She didn't pick on us, make us eat our veggies, put us in a corner, nothing. very dissappointing.

Another issue we had was our DD9 meal. Look at her meat loaf portion! Are you kidding me!

So off we go:

50sadultmacNcheese.jpg

DD10 didn't want anything off the adult menu, so we ordered her an adult sized Mac N Cheese.

50schickenpotpie.jpg

DH had the Chicken Pot Pie. He was impressed with this and said it was good.

50spotroast.jpg

I had the Pot Roast. This was very tasty.

50skidsoup.jpg

DD9 had the Chicken Noodle Soup for an app. Before she had her meat loaf. Which came out like this....

50skidsmeatloaf.jpg

I kid you not, the meat loaf was actually 2 bites of meat. And I think they used a melon baller for the mashed potatoes. I would have been embarassed to send this out of the kitchen if I were them. My DD9 was done before anyone else.

The husband asked the waitress for another piece of meat loaf for our daughter. She brought out another one that was not much bigger than the first.

Desserts:
50skidsicecream.jpg

Kids ice cream

50ssmores.jpg

DD10 & I got the smores. Yum!:thumbsup2

DH got Dad's Brownie Sundae

50sbrowniesundae.jpg

He gave this a :thumbsup2

Here's a quick look at our breakfast & dinner from our last day.

That does it folks! Hope you enjoyed the pics.

We will be back at Christmas time from the Boardwalk. Don't know if we're doing the dining plan or not this time.

Both kids would be happy eating chicken strips & mac n cheese, so probably not.

Until next time...:goodvibes

Great reviews and pictures - I really enjoyed reading along.

I agree that meatloaf portion was just sad - even my 3 year old nephew would eat more than that!

Can you tell me what those sandwiches are from the Studio catering company? Are they pulled pork? They look good - were they? I always find myself at back lot express at DHS and would like something different next time.

thanks.

They were a pulled pork. Sorry, I forgot to mention it. DD9 had the chicken drumstick meal as well. They were good. We ate there last year as well. After we ate here we were in time to see Mulch, Sweat & Shears on the Street of America. If you've never seen this band, you must see them. Very good musicians, if you like classic rock :rotfl:

The meatloaf was a joke. My husband was like, are you kidding me!

Oh well. We now know not to order the kids meatloaf ever again!
