Can those of you that have been during this time please post your experiences?

Crowds
Hours
Weather
Rehabs
Air Fare . . .

I'm trying to get an idea of what I should expect during our next trip.

Thanks :cheer2:

Crowds: Pretty heavy from the Friday prior to the weekend until about Thursday. Then still above average the rest of the week.

Weather: Completely unpredictable; you could have warm days with cool mornings or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 50s.

Park hours; February 2007 park hours will be released in the next few days. Meanwhile, check here for historical hours:

Agree with Bob P Pres weekend is very busy, then busy from wed or THurs on
The last 2 years, MK has been open until 11PM or Midnight but with the new Pirate and Princess party that will probably be adjusted; the beginning of the week MGM usually has 2 Fantasmic Shows so open unti 8-9PM. Ep and AK are pretty much as always - EP till 9PM, Ak till 5 or 6PM
Variable. We've had weeks where every day was 75-80, and times when high temp was 55. Evenings are usually cooler. I always wait for the 10 day weather forecast to pack.
One water park is always closed I'm not sure which one, but it's probably already posted somewhere
Air Fare . . .
If you go weekend to weekend, it's HIGH We've been able to save as much as 50% off full fare by flying down mon or tues and returning the following tues or wed. Of course, this means DD misses some school. YOu probably won't be able to snag the low fares that you see people getting for Nov or early Dec during this Feb time

Thanks

I'm thinking of flying down on Wed(2/14) instead of Friday or Saturday.

I had my son give me a list of restaurants he wants to try this time around.

Now I just have to wait for park hours and EMH to be released so that I can book our ADRs. :woohoo:

I really wish CRO will release package info so that I'll know how much this trip is going to cost me. :joker:

IMO you'd be better to fly down 2/20 and come back 2/27, then to fly down 2/14 at least crowd wise. However it could be if you fly down 2/14 and that makes your whole reservation price at value season, it would save you some money.

We're going down on the 14th to get in on the value season rates.

My son will miss 2 1/2 days of school, but I think it's worth it. :thumbsup2

I checked airfare and right now Jetblue is $924.00 round trip. :sad2:

As a fellow New Yorker, and a teacher who must travel during the school break, February is THE best holiday time to go as far as crowds. We have been going down the Tuesday after Presidents Day and returning the following Tuesday (I take two personal days) and the airfare is much better than if you try to be there for pres. weekend. We have done this for the last six years in a row, and for the last four, taken JET BLUE out of JFK. The February fares are not out yet, but will be soon! It is important to book as soon as they come out because they raise the fares based on how many people are booked already.
One year we went down on the Wednesday before and it was mobbed! Attendance is much higher before the weekend, so if you are planning on taking a few days off from school/work, Definitely do it on the other side of the holiday. This is really important! It will be packed from that Wednesday and not let up until after the weekend.
The weather last year was perfect! :sunny: In the 80's the whole time, but this was warm for that time of year. You can expect temperatures to be in the 70's, which is a lot better than NYC in February.

Happy Planning! :)

I, too, teach in NY so we are "stuck" with Pres. week. I agree with all the above posts. We, however, are unable to add days to a school vacation in my school, so I am stuck travelling at prime time.

Airfares: High. We just decided to fly down in the afternoon on Sat instead of the morning on Sun and saved $200 on Delta. We'll take Pop Century for one night. Even though it eats into our savings, we'll have a full day there on Sun instead of a half as originally planned.

Weather: Last year we were in shorts and tanks, but someone said that the week before you needed gloves! (maybe they weren't from NY) So it is unpredictable.

One water park is always under rehab.

Crowds: We usually go in the summer, too, and compared with that, the crowds are lighter than the summer, but still pretty heavy.

Feb. is one of our favorite times there. It is so refreshing to see colored flowers instead of white everywhere! It's a mental health trip!

Good Luck, you'll have a great time!
