President's Day/Week Question

I have a question. I keep hearing that the week of President's day is real crowded and it seems like the resorts are somewhat full. Why? I don't get it. I'm going 2/9 and actually coming home on President's day. Maybe that's a good thing.

I've just always wondered why this is a popular time?

February thru April are school vacation times. Some people don't like to or can't take their children out of school to go on vacation. And the summer is too hot for some. I'm there mostly the week after President's Day...Thursday the 19th- Thursday the 26th. I hope it's not too crowded. I found Memorial Day weekend last year to be unbearable in MGM and Blizzard Beach.

When do people start arriving for that busy week? We will be arriving the 11th and leaving the 15th. There is no other alternative since DH has a trade show then.

Here in upstate NY most schools are closed from 2/13 - 2/20 and if you have ever experienced a Northeast winter - you know why this is such a popular time!

Let's try this again. President's week not only becomes a long weekend for schools being out, but you also have the Daytona Race, which is at the same time. This is part of the the reason the parks business pick up at that timeframe. I was there last year at that time, and although the crowds were larger, they never had the crowds that you would encounter in the summer. One more thing, the park crowds only seemed to increase starting Thursday becoming larger through Presidents Day. Hope this helps

Planning my next trip

We were there last year the 12-19. Disney was still on the down side for attendence for the year.

Crowds were low, most rides were walk on until Saturday then the crowds doubled. I really noticed the difference. On saturday night MK was packed. A spectro night. Both weekends will be very busy.

We left for Cocoa Beach on Tuesday morning and the Poly was very busy with arrivals.

They are saying Disney is breaking records this year. I would say expect crowds. We will be at Disney 11-15 then over to Cocoa Beach for the remainder of the week. Hoping to get a few days in while the crowds are still fairly low.

We are arriving in Orlando on Presidents' Day, Feb. 16th, and are staying at Universal. I would like to go to MK one day and wonder which day you think would be best, Wednesday, Feb 18, or Thursday, Feb 19.

If you are going after the holiday I think you will be fine, most of the crowds will leave on that Monday. Again, last years volume seamed to be heaviest on the weekend, but we never saw the crowds you experience in the summer. Enjoy your vacation!
