I seem to remember from last year that the experts on this board said Presidents day/week was one of the busiest, and not to go that week if trying to avoid long lines and crowded parks. Am I rememebring this info correctly? Thanks.

Yes, the last 2 years have been nuts! Dd was supposed to dance on that weekend and I'm kind of relieved that they postponed it til later in the spring.

Thanks for reminding me by the way, I need to cancel my hotel ressies for that weekend. :)

Was it nuts after the Monday holiday? I would expect things to quiet down by Wednesday. We went at this time in 2003 and it was crazy for the holiday weekend, and much quieter the days following.:)

In 2006, the crowds were there but by no means unbearable. About 60 minutes max for Space Mountain, Soarin, and California Screamin and 30-45 for Indy, Splash, Peter Pan, ToT, and GRR. Probably around 20-30 for BTMMR, BLAB, Star Tours, Matterhorn, Mulholland Madness. And less than 20 for PotC, IASW, minor dark rides (Pinocchio, Snow White, Winnie-the-Pooh) and Jungle Cruise.

The crowds have been up lately because some CA schools have converted to giving children that week off. It seems more and more schools are doing this each year to help with sinking attendance problems that week.

Do any of your kids get the 12th off too? I just checked the schedule and my kids are off on both the 12th and the 19th... I wonder what the crowds will be like on the 12th? :confused3

We actually have the 16th and 19th off... so if everyone else would just promise to stay home, that would be a PERFECT time for us to go! Darn-it!

We usually go during this time and find it very good. Last time was 2005 during the downpour of rain. The parks were pretty empty during the week. It was a little busy on the weekend. We probably stood in line max 30 mins. for TM - Since Splash and Space were not open. We use the fast pass and single rider to get around the lines. This week is Washington states Mid winter Break.

My DH has a convention that week, the 12-16th so we are tagging along and we'll be going to the parks while the poor DH goes to work. We tried to add DLR hotels to our trip to make it a long weekend, but all of the on-site hotels are booked. I know there are only the three hotels, but it looks kind of busy to me!:confused3

Looks like we can stay at the Candy Cane Inn, so thats' not so bad!:thumbsup2

We're going WDW Feb.16-23. I'm getting concerned about the crowds because it is also Mardi Gras week. I know LOTS of fellow New Orleanians like to get out of town and head to Disney that week. A local high school is even performing in the MK parade on Wed.

^Yes, but Mardi Gras probably won't affect DLR much if at all.

We are going that week as my kids have the whole week off school. We are driving down though on the 19th which is the actual holiday and going to the parks tues-Fri. I am prepared for it to be busy but hoping it won't be at capacity like it was on Veteran's weekend or on the 29th of Dec when we went last but if it is we have learned how to deal with the huge crowds so I am no longer worried.

Sure it is nice to be there when there is room to move around but we don't have the luxury anymore of taking the kids out of school for a whole week so we have to just go when they have a break and deal with the crowds.
