I agree with you on most of the stuff, but 150k dollars is really not a lot for a woman politician (or anyone on the media for that matter) for clothing. Obama's wife's closet is probably worth 5 times more than that. Also...where can you buy a house for 150,000 dollars? Around here houses start in the low 800k.
In the midwest probably...the lowest here for a normal house is 200K but normally its 350 to 500K

Uhm, Palin. Sorry typo., won't let it happen again. But I just wrote why I picked McCain, I know you wasn't trying to be mean.. but you didn't have to point out every bad thing about her, when I was just stating my opinion.

And they are stating theirs. Also, if she is running for Vice Presdient, shouldnt we be aware of the bad things about her?

In Florida you can buy houses for 140k that are brand new(like, you say you want one and they build it for you) and pretty nice. And Florida's known for expensive houses.

800k is a lot for a house anywhere, you must be super rich.

You remember "Joe the Plumber"?

His house costs just about $63k less than Sarah Palin's Wardrobe.

And Michelle Obama's closet may be worth more, but I don't think she's used campaign funds to buy it.

Mine's worth half of that and I've got a pretty nice house. Well. My house is worth about $400k. Doesn't mean it's going to sell for that. I've got a mountain view, almost an acre of land, and a rather large house (by neighborhood standards).

i'm currently sitting in a five bedroom (eleven room total) two story house in middle tennessee that cost my family 50K dollars.

when did you buy the house? because my parents bought our house around 18 years ago for $200,000 or $300,000 but now it could easily go for $600-700,000.

it's also a matter of location.
i live right outside of nyc. thus, real estate is more expensive.

and especially in today's market with the huge problems with people overextending themselves with houses they can't afford, your house price doesn't necessarily show how much money you ACTUALLY have.

we bought this house in either 2004 or 2003

You can buy a house around here for $150,000 but it is likely only one story.

My parents paid $133,000 for our 2,000 square foot house. Four bedrooms, basement, two stories. We've added on though. That was 21 years ago though. We now have six bedrooms.

I think new houses around here (on average) start at $300,000.

But I dont think you realize Democrats are known for taxing people.

And there was a reason for a war. Bush got a hint about Nuclear Weapons and he was trying to keep us safe and when we found out there were none we were asked to stay there and help rehabilitate the country

and..95% of people would get tax cuts, only people making $250,000/year are getting taxed. anyways, i'd rather have higher taxes than war.

And we all benefit from having a healthy society. So if you are of the mentality "Oh I can afford health care, I shouldn't have to pay for other people's health care, it's their problem!". Nope, because I'm sure you would hate to have your kid get sick over and over again at school because one person can't afford medical treatment for their child, so that kid's at school spreading around flu or strep or whatever.

And it's true that democrats tax people a lot, but they have much better reasons for taxing people. They tax people and the money those people pay in taxes goes back to them (in health care, etc). The money reps tax goes to stupid things like war and themselves.

And as a footnote, all other industralized countries have socialized health care. The idea that if you're over 18, you get cancer, then go to the hospital and have them deny you treatment because you have no health care is just ridiculous to them. And I know this because I read international message boards.

Come on guys. Really? Has anyone heard of Healthy Families? Were you can go to the GP, optometrist, dentist, etc for little over 20 bucks a month MAX? There is NO excuse for a child not to have health care even without socialized health care because of how cheap it is. Also the people Obama is planning on heavily taxing (people who make 250k or more a year) usually send their children to private school. Most, if not all, children in private school have some sort of health care. Also, it doesn't matter if every child in the world has healthcare, colds and flues will spread through schools, seeing as colds and flues can't be treated by antibiotics. Their symptoms can be lessened by medications, but that cold or flu is gonna stay with that person until their immune system fights it.

Obama is giving tax reliefs to 95% of the nation so no...the people he's planning on heavily taxing won't benefit from what the taxes are going to be used for. I'm not a convict nor do I know a convict (he's using taxes to pay for substance abuse and mental counseling for convicts). I don't live in an inner-city, nor do I know anyone who does. I'm not arguing against some of the things Obama is standing up for, but you have to look at it from the other perspective.

I wasn't stating it was ok using campaign funds to pay for a wardrobe, I'm saying that 150k isn't a lot for someone in the media to spend on clothes in general.

800,000 bucks here will get you a very modest 3 bed, 2 bath house and a fourth of an acre. An average listing price here is 2.5 mil.

Saratoga has really high property tax too I assume, especially since its mostly residential.

Excuse me? Just because I have some problems with Obama's campaign means I'm the cause of people hating our country? That was really rude, and really uncalled for.

While I don't believe in socialized health care for the reasons I've already mentioned, that doesn't make me a horrible person. I'm one of those people who is without healthcare and I have an incurable disease. Half of the doctors NOW don't know what the hell my disease is about, so how is socializing healthcare going to improve the expertise of doctors? Answer: It's not. It's going to cause more brain dead people to go out and be doctors, and I'll pay them for their time, and they'll say, "I don't know how to treat this condition...I hadn't even heard of it." I'm serious, most doctors don't know anything about my condition and it's part of the freaking huge telethon the MDA does. I would rather have doctors who know what they're doing than having cheaper doctors who don't. In England, one MILLION people are waiting to get into the hospital, and in Canada 900,000 people are on the waiting list at any given time of the year. For non-emergency surgeries, the wait is nearly 7 times longer in england than it is here. So not only will socialized medicine decrease the competency of doctors, it'll also multiply the time it takes to even get the help you need.

With the money, I'm just laying down the facts. People who make a lot of money DON'T benefit from what their taxes pay for. So little is spent on things that EVERYONE uses (like roads, libraries, etc) that it seems ridiculous. I'm not even in that tax bracket of 250k or more so I don't really care, but I can understand how people who are in that tax bracket could be upset by this.

A lot of people in my neighborhood (my family included) have lived here before prop 13 came along, which kept property taxes at what they were in...1978 I believe. So my house is worth about a million dollars, but my mom only pays 1400 bucks a year on property tax. Other than that, yeah, haha...people pay up the ying-yang in property tax. Around 45 thousand dollars for a 4 million dollar home a year.
