It is common for people who want to ridicule believers in the Bible to take verses totally out of context.

This was written in a different time. It doesn't apply now. Alot of verses in the bible are metaphors and/or figures of speech. You have to be strong in your faith to be able to identify which ones are to be taken literally, and which are not.

just to say, i cannot in good conscience deny someone equal rights. ie gay people. i really can't beleive at how closeminded some of you can be. as for religion there are more than thousands of religions in the world. how do we kno which one is "right"? we don't. christians arent supposed to judge. from what i can see it seems like a lot of you "christians" are being very judgemental.

i believe that the bible is not meant to be taken literally. it is supposed to teach lessons thru stories. kinda like fairytales that have a moral at the end. those things in the bible probly did not really happen at all.

i consider myself a christian. i beleive in gay rights and i'm prochoice. does that mean that i can't be a christian? if so, then that's pretty judgemental and god doesnt want ppl to judge others. nobody can decide who gets to be a christian and who doesn't. it's all personal belief.

Please. I studied the Bible while I went to Catholic elementary school. I learned on my own that the Bible is only good in part, to learn of morals and of Jesus's life. Most, including the part about gays being 'OMG SATAN'S SPAWN' as rediculous in our world today.

And, by the way, how on earth are some of the Bible's direct quotes metaphors?

You're questioning what verses are supposed to be taken literally, and which are not. How do you know? Did god highlight the passages that should be taken literally?

And, something else I've noticed. You are judging who can and cannot be christians. That's not your job, right? According to you, it's god's job to decide.

Being close-minded isn't about not changing your belief to conform to someone elses. No my dear that is called standing up for what you believe in.

as far as I'm concerned dump all the gays in San Francisco and i dont care what they do as long as they leave me alone and don't flaunt it so much. that's the only reason they bother me.....do I go on straight rights marches?

Because it's who that man or woman loves. I'm not going to deny them their rights because they fell in love with someone of the same sex. I don't judge people based off of their sexual orientation. I have a couple cousins who are gay and some of my friends are gay, too. I love them with all my heart and support them with all my heart. I respect them a whole lot because they were able to come out and be who they truly are despite being put down by people like you.

LOVE IS LOVE. To love is not wrong. Love doesnt discriminate.
